Description Of PositionNortheastern State University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor position in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction within the College of Education, located on the Tahlequah campus.Teaching ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include teaching a combination of graduate and undergraduate courses in all areas of reading/literacy, primarily on the Tahlequah campus. Applicants must demonstrate a strong foundation and understanding of reading science. Most NSU reading courses require field experience; therefore, the faculty member must be able to supervise instructional sessions with children and provide effective feedback to teacher candidates on their instructional performance in evidence-based practices.AdvisementAdvisement is a vital part of the reading faculty’s role. An understanding of current degree requirements and expertise in helping students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels progress through their programs are necessary.Required QualificationsEarned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Reading, Literacy Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.ABD candidates are encouraged to apply; the degree must be completed by the date of appointment.A minimum of three years of P–12 classroom teaching experience in reading, literacy, or language arts.Preferred QualificationsOklahoma Reading Specialist certification, or eligibility for such certification.Experience teaching reading courses at the university level.Experience developing reading/literacy courses.Experience collaborating with public schools.Experience advising students at the graduate or undergraduate level.Annual salary $57,810.00 with excellent benefits, including generous leave time.Anticipated hire date: 8/3/2026Applications will be accepted until: 6/14/2026NOTE: Posting will close to applicants at 11:59 p.m., CST, on the date above.
