Manufacturing Engineer

About the CompanyWe are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer who thrives on the shop floor, drives measurable results, and plays a key role in improving efficiency, quality, and flow across a high-mix, low-volume environment.About the RoleThis role is not a desk-only engineering position — it requires daily engagement with production, troubleshooting real-time issues, implementing process improvements, and supporting our goal of achieving =80% efficiency, =80% utilization, and 95%+ OTD.ResponsibilitiesHands-On Production SupportWork directly on the shop floor to resolve manufacturing issues in real time (laser, forming, hardware, welding, paint, assembly).Troubleshoot bottlenecks, reduce downtime, and eliminate rework.Support daily production meetings and drive execution of action items.Process Improvement & Lean TransformationLead and support Lean/PDCA initiatives aligned with the company's Operational Transformation.Improve workflow, material flow, and work center performance.Implement standard work, visual controls, and error-proofing.Drive improvements in cycle time, labor efficiency, and throughput.Manufacturing Process DevelopmentDevelop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods and routing structures.Optimize work center loading, labor utilization, and line balancing.Create and maintain accurate BOMs and routers in ERP (Global Shop Solutions preferred).Capacity & Layout OptimizationAnalyze space utilization and design layouts to improve flow and reduce waste.Support capacity planning and production scaling initiatives.Cross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with Programming, Quality, Production, and Purchasing teams.Partner with Engineering on design for manufacturability (DFM).Coordinate with vendors for tooling, equipment, and process improvements.Data-Driven ExecutionUse KPIs and dashboards to drive decisions (Efficiency, Utilization, OTD, Scrap).Support development of Power BI or ERP-based reporting tools.Identify gaps and implement corrective actions.Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potentiaQualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (preferred)3+ years in manufacturing engineering (metal fabrication, precision metal machining or contract manufacturing strongly preferred)Experience in high-mix, low-volume environmentsStrong understanding of: Fabrication processes (laser, punch, brake, welding, assembly)Lean manufacturing principlesERP systemsPhysical Demands / Work EnvironmentFrequent time on the production floorStanding, walking, and interacting with equipment and operators dailyUse of required PPE:
