Job Title: Operator I Division: FiOptix Inc FSLA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Project Manager Job Summary: This position is responsible for the operation of various equipment utilized to perform underground construction projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Operate construction equipment, including but not limited to a mini excavator, skid steer, bore drill, and drop trench machineryLoad, transport, and unload tools, materials, and equipment in a safe mannerLocate cables in accordance with blueprintsIdentify marked and/or unmarked utilities in the construction areaPerform pre and post operation inspection of the equipment; ensure routine equipment maintenance is performed per service requirements and safety guidelinesHand dig utilizing shovel and/or other mechanical tools as requiredOrganize materials and basic hand tools necessary to complete excavation requirementsRestore and/or landscape disturbed areas of the job siteComplete all required Company documentationOther duties as assigned Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. Education: High school diploma, general education degree (G.E.D.), or related trade school education Experience: One to two years' experience drilling in standard and high-risk areasOne to two years' experience as a locatorCommercial driver's license (CDL) preferredKnowledge of highway traffic control standards Technical Skills:Ability to read and understand blueprintsKnowledge of utility depths and placementAbility to read and interpret design prints Soft Skills:Ability to read, comprehend, and carry out instructionsAbility to detect errors, determine causes, and make corrections as appropriateAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines Physical Requirements: Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testingMust have a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets Company requirementsMust be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 75 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxesAbility to work in various settings with moderate to loud noise levelsAbility to stand for long periods of time on varied surfacesAbility to work outdoors in all types of weatherAbility to work in trenches, tunnels, and manholesMay be required to work long and unpredictable hours Disclaimer: All job requirements are subject to possible revision to reflect changes in the position requirements.
