We are located in Fairfax, Virginia, with a branch office in Reno, Nevada. .Role DescriptionWe are looking for an attorney to assist on civil litigation cases involving construction defects, consumer fraud, class actions, and toxic mold. Attorney must be licensed in Virginia. 1-3 years experience in litigation in state or federal courts is preferred but not required. Recent graduates who have passed the February bar exam are welcome to apply. Salary will be commensurate with your experience. Your responsibilities will include direct client interaction, drafting complaints, motions, and other pleadings and briefs, legal research, drafting and responding to discovery, taking and defending depositions, preparing for mediation and trial. Our ideal applicant has prior litigation experience in federal courts (in particular in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia).For the right candidate, we are willing to share in fees earned on cases originating with the candidate.Please submit a cover letter listing your experience in any state or federal court, your resume, and writing samples that you have prepared. If you have any existing cases that you would like to bring to the firm, please explain in the cover letter the nature and details of the cases.Duties will include but not be limited to the following:Assist with drafting legal documents, including motions and pleadingsAssist with the discovery process by defending and taking depositions, drafting and responding to interrogatories, request for production of documents, request for admissions, and subpoenasReviewing and analyzing documentsLegal researchCourt appearances as necessaryConduct initial consultations with potential clientsWork with clients throughout the litigation processAdditional Qualifications:Licensed to practice law in Virginia is required; licensed to practice in Maryland and District of Columbia a plus.Must be willing to work independently without direct supervisionStrong analytical and legal research skillsPrior experience with Lexis + and ProtégéPrior construction experienceStrong written communication skillsProficient computer skillsSelf-starter who can handle multiple projects simultaneouslyEffective time managementDocketing deadlines and calendaring events in the Firm's case management software (Clio)Electronic filing of pleadings in state and federal courtsProficient in Office 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel), Adobe and document review databases (Everlaw, Relativity and KLDiscovery)Ability to work overtime as needed
