Emulsion Plant Operator Company: SIMON Job Location: RAPID CITY, SOUTH DAKOTA, USA Type of Contract: Seasonal Job Summary: Operates emulsion plant to produce various asphalt oils and emulsions; maintains equipment. Performs testing on asphalt products to ensure quality. Main Responsibilities: Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Simon Steering and Continuous Improvement teams Support, promote, and practice the Company's core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies Reads incoming paperwork to ensure accurate materials are being delivered Perform advanced calculations Operate forklift to unload and move various materials and equipment Hook up off-load hoses for AC delivery Trace product and raw material lines in order to achieve accurate transfers Open, close and adjust valves as necessary to load or unload product in tanks and lines Read gauges and adjust valves to adjust product mix to meet specifications Read level gauges to mix different materials at accurate ratios to meet specifications Climb tank ladders (up to 50' high) to take tank gauges or service mechanical apparatus as needed Check temperature and PSI of oil heater and adjust as necessary Visually inspect equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment or lubrication Perform plant and line maintenance, including repair or replacement of valves, motors, bearings, gaskets, shafts, gauges, etc. Records operation and maintenance actions during shift in logbook Clean facilities by sweeping, shoveling, scrapping spills, etc. Complete production sheets Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred Skills: 1-3 years related experience and/or training preferred Physical Requirements: Wears and maintains required PPE (personal protective equipment) to ensure safe performance of job responsibilities as required Regularly uses hands to handle tools, equipment, and materials necessary for completing operational tasks safely and efficiently Regularly communicate (talk and hear) to support safe coordination, instruction, and teamwork in the work environment Regularly stands for extended periods and moves across various surfaces or terrain to access different work areas and complete assigned tasks Regularly works in changing environmental conditions (such as outdoor weather, dust, or airborne particles) due to the nature of operational work sites Regularly works near fuels, oils, and other common workplace chemicals associated with operating or supporting equipment and machinery Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds with or without assistance to handle materials, tools, equipment, or documents essential to the role Frequently stands, walks, sits, reaches, and stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls to access work areas and complete required tasks Frequently works in environments that may include loud noise, moving equipment, dust, or varying indoor/outdoor conditions depending on operational needs Occasionally works at heights or near electrical hazards when tasks require elevated access or proximity to electrical components Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and overtime; overnight travel may be required Benefits and Perks: Choice of 3 Medical Plan Options Prescription Drug Coverage Dental and Vision Plans Flexible Spending Account or Health Savings Options Access to Telemedicine and Healthcare Advocacy Services Paid Parental Leave Employee Assistance Program Life and AD&D Insurance Disability Insurance Paid Time Off and Paid Holidays 401(k) Savings Plan with Company Match Product and Service Group Discount Programs
