Job Title:Precision Machinist (CNC Mill or CNC Lathe Specialist)
Employment Type:Full-Time Monday – Friday 10 hrs per day
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Precision Machinist specializing in CNC Mill or CNC Lathe programming and machining. This role is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC equipment to produce high-quality, tight-tolerance components according to engineering drawings and specifications. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and capable of working independently while maintaining production efficiency and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
CNC Programming & Setup
Program, edit, and optimize CNC programs (G-code) for Mill or Lathe operations.
Set up machine including material, tooling selection, offsets, and fixture alignment.
Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings to ensure part accuracy.
Select proper cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for various materials.
Machining & Production
Operate CNC Mill or Lathe to manufacture precision components.
Monitor machine operations and adjust as necessary to maintain tolerances.
Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.).
Maintain production efficiency while ensuring adherence to quality standards.
Inspect and document parts as required on inspection sheets.Quality & Safety
Maintain tight tolerances and high-quality surface finishes.
Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend process improvements.
Follow all company safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Qualifications
2+ years of CNC machining experience (Mill or Lathe specialization).
Proficiency in G-code programming and editing at the machine.
Strong understanding of blueprint reading and geometric tolerancing (GD&T).
Experience with precision measuring tools and quality inspection processes.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with CAD/CAM software.
Experience machining a variety of materials (steel, aluminum, stainless, plastics).
Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
Good work ethic, dependable, great communication skills, positive team player.
Self-motivated, person of high integrity, shows initiative.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Manual dexterity and attention to fine detail work.
