Spacecraft Mission Systems EngineerA next-generation space mobility company is seeking a Mission Systems Engineer to help lead spacecraft development from mission architecture through flight delivery. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in highly technical, fast-paced environments and wants to play a central role in building advanced spacecraft systems for national security, civil, and commercial missions.This is not a process-only systems engineering position. The selected candidate will serve as a technical leader across spacecraft development, driving architecture, requirements, interfaces, verification, and cross-functional execution across propulsion, avionics, software, structures, and mission operations.The ideal candidate is systems-minded, technically rigorous, hardware-oriented, and comfortable leading multidisciplinary engineering teams through complex development milestones and flight readiness activities.ResponsibilitiesLead spacecraft-level technical execution from concept development through integration and flight readinessOwn system architecture, requirements management, and interface definition across spacecraft subsystemsConduct and lead trade studies involving propulsion, power, mass, mission design, and payload integrationServe as a key technical interface with customers, government stakeholders, and mission partnersLead technical reviews including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and FRRDefine and oversee spacecraft verification and validation strategies for hardware and flight softwareSupport hands-on spacecraft integration, environmental testing, launch preparation, and mission operationsMentor engineers and help strengthen technical rigor, execution quality, and engineering standards across programsQualificationsB.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline (M.S. preferred)3–12 years of spacecraft systems engineering experience supporting flight or flight-like hardwareDemonstrated ownership of spacecraft-level architecture, requirements, and subsystem integrationExperience leading technical execution through at least one major spacecraft development milestoneStrong understanding of spacecraft subsystems including propulsion, structures, avionics, GNC, and software interfacesAbility to operate effectively as a technical authority in a fast-moving development environmentExcellent written and verbal communication skillsPreferred ExperienceExperience serving as a Lead Systems Engineer or technical lead on spacecraft programsBackground supporting national security or defense-related space missionsStrong experience with spacecraft propulsion systems and high-mobility mission architecturesHands-on support of integration, environmental testing, launch campaigns, or flight operationsFamiliarity with mission assurance, technical risk management, and engineering standardsActive security clearance or eligibility preferredTechnical EnvironmentExperience with tools such as Jama, DOORS, JIRA, and ConfluenceFamiliarity with CAD platforms including Creo or SolidWorksStrong engineering intuition across thermal, structural, and fluids systemsProgramming or mission analysis experience using Python or MATLAB is a plusWhy JoinWork on spacecraft programs that move quickly from concept to flightOperate with meaningful technical ownership and influenceCollaborate with a highly capable team advancing the future of in-space mobility and logisticsCompetitive compensation, equity participation, and comprehensive benefits package
