Job Title: Project Engineer - Capital Improvement InitiativesJob DescriptionWe are seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Project Engineer to lead major capital improvement initiatives across our manufacturing facilities in St. Louis. This role will serve as the primary project manager responsible for executing significant plant modifications, including the construction of new mezzanines, installation of high-pressure reactors, hot oil systems, chillers, cooling towers, and bulk material automation systems. The position offers the potential to transition into a Manager of Maintenance and Engineering role upon successful project completion.ResponsibilitiesServe as the on-site project manager for all capital improvement initiatives across the St. Louis plant.Oversee the installation of major process equipment, including high-pressure reactors, hot oil systems, chillers, cooling towers, and automation systems.Manage external contractors, equipment suppliers, and construction timelines to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.Track and control project budgets, schedules, installation logistics, and safety protocols.Develop a deep understanding of the plant layout, processes, and operational systems to ensure seamless integration of upgrades.Coordinate with internal teams across operations, maintenance, and EH&S to minimize downtime and ensure compliance.Monitor equipment lead times and manage order tracking and delivery schedules.Maintain detailed project documentation and provide regular status updates to upper-level leadership.Support the commissioning, testing, and start-up of new equipment and systems.Upon completion of capital projects, assume leadership of the Maintenance and Engineering departments.Essential SkillsChemical Engineering experience with the ability to provide ongoing support in terms of chemical expertise and how it relates to installation.Experience installing reactors and utilities within a chemical manufacturing environment.Proven project management experience.Understanding of basic safety concepts in a construction environment, including lock out/tag out.Additional Skills & QualificationsProficiency in project coordination and construction management.Experience with reactors, utilities, and high-pressure systems.Ability to manage change orders effectively.Work EnvironmentThis role involves working in both construction environments and on the manufacturing floor.
