This position plays a crucial role in leading and managing public utility projects, overseeing the development, design, and construction of utility maintenance and capital improvement initiatives. The Utility Projects Manager will coordinate with city departments and external organizations to ensure projects are delivered within scope, resources, time, and budget constraints while maintaining high levels of customer service and stakeholder satisfaction. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of Fredericksburg and make a significant impact on the community.Role Overview:Lead and manage public utility projectsOversee the development, design, and construction of utility maintenance and capital improvement projectsCoordinate with city departments and external organizationsEnsure high levels of customer service and stakeholder satisfactionKey Responsibilities:Manage all phases of the project life-cycle from initiation to closureDeliver projects within scope, resources, time, and budget constraintsAssist in developing and administering water and sewer programsQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or related fieldMinimum of 3 years of progressive experience in utility construction, operations, or project managementLicensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Virginia, or ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of hirePreferred: 3-5 years’ experience in municipal public works operations, administration, or project management in a local government settingThis position will remain open until filled.Come be part of a knowledgeable and amazing work team committed to excellence in serving a thriving and growing community and the commitment to City’s Core Values.
