Maintenance EngineerThe Maintenance Engineer is responsible for performing machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on a variety of production equipment under direct supervision. This role supports both warranty and non-warranty repairs, ensuring machinery operates safely and efficiently while minimizing downtime. The position works closely with maintenance leadership to maintain equipment reliability and support smooth production operations.ResponsibilitiesPerform machine setup, troubleshooting, and repair on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machinery under direct supervision.Complete preventive maintenance tasks by following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer instructions, and engineering specifications.Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical malfunctions by observing equipment in operation, listening for irregularities, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.Locate and diagnose problems in mechanical and electrical devices through systematic inspection and testing.Remove defective parts by dismantling equipment using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools, and examine parts for wear, damage, and defects.Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used components with rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.Adjust functional parts of machinery and control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges to restore proper operation.Control equipment downtime by communicating routine preventive maintenance techniques to production staff and monitoring compliance with these practices.Fabricate and modify repair parts using machine shop tools, instrumentation, and equipment when needed.Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventory by checking stock levels, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipts.Use maintenance resources efficiently by selecting appropriate tools, parts, and supplies to complete work safely and effectively.Provide mechanical maintenance information by responding to questions and requests from team members and other departments.Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing maintenance data, issues, and trends.Maintain and update technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, and building professional networks.Document and communicate actions taken, irregularities observed, and ongoing needs to ensure continuity among work teams and shifts.Maintain a safe and clean work area by following established procedures, rules, and regulations.Support overall team performance by assisting with related tasks and projects as needed.Essential SkillsMinimum of 5 years of related maintenance or mechanical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Strong troubleshooting skills in an industrial or production environment.Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.Experience working with 480V motors and electrical wiring in an industrial setting.Proficiency in mechanical systems, including pneumatics and related components.Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and rules.Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, hoists, cranes, and machine shop equipment for repairs and part fabrication.Capability to diagnose issues using testing instruments and by observing equipment in operation.Strong documentation skills for preparing maintenance reports and recording work performed.Ability to follow safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.Valid driver's license.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.Associate's degree in a related technical field preferred.Experience as a maintenance technician in an industrial or manufacturing environment.Familiarity with truss manufacturing equipment and processes is a plus.Ability to interpret and follow manufacturer instructions and engineering specifications.Comfort working with electrical schematics and industrial control systems.Strong communication skills to collaborate with production workers, maintenance leadership, and other team members.Commitment to continuous learning through workshops, technical publications, and professional networking.Why Work Here?This opportunity offers a clear pathway for growth, including the potential to be promoted into a supervisory role.
