Position Overview
PBG is seeking a highly experienced Economist / Financial Regulatory Policy Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support analytical, research, and advisory work in complex economic and financial policy environments. This role will provide expert insight into the production, maintenance, and use of economic and financial analytical products, while supporting modernization, process improvement, and documentation validation efforts.
The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in economic research, policy analysis, and financial regulatory environments, along with the ability to collaborate with technical and analytical teams responsible for data pipelines, modeling environments, and research platforms.
This role is structured as a 1099 independent contractor engagement and is expected to support advisory and analytical initiatives on a project basis.
Key Responsibilities
Provide subject matter expertise in economics and financial policy analysis, supporting research, modeling, and analytical initiatives.
Advise on the development, maintenance, and application of economic analytical products, including forecasting models, datasets, and analytical frameworks.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including economists, data scientists, analysts, and technical engineers to support economic research workflows.
Review and validate process documentation, analytical methodologies, and workflow descriptions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with best practices.
Provide guidance on modernization and process improvement initiatives related to economic research, modeling environments, and analytical systems.
Evaluate and recommend improvements to data pipelines, analytical tools, and research processes supporting economic policy analysis.
Communicate complex economic concepts and analytical approaches to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in Economics, Finance, Statistics, or a closely related quantitative field from an accredited institution.
Eight (8) years of professional experience conducting economic analysis, forecasting, research, or policy-related analytical work.
Demonstrated understanding of economic data structures, analytical models, and research workflows.
Experience explaining how economic research products are developed, maintained, and used in policy or analytical environments.
Experience collaborating with technical teams, data engineers, or analytical development teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting central banking institutions, financial regulatory agencies, or economic policy organizations.
Background in professional services or consulting environments supporting federal financial regulatory clients.
Familiarity with data pipelines, modeling platforms, or analytical tools commonly used in economic research environments.
Experience advising process improvement, modernization, or transformation initiatives in analytical or research organizations.
Experience reviewing or validating process documentation, analytical workflows, or operational procedures.
