Our continued growth requires strong financial leadership, disciplined accounting processes, and scalable systems to support operations across multiple entities and states._______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Position SummaryThe Corporate Controller is the senior leader responsible for all corporate accounting operations and financial reporting for Capital Waste Services. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this role owns the integrity of the company’s financial statements, balance sheet discipline, and close processes, while building a scalable accounting organization to support continued growth. This position transitions the scope of the former VP of Accounting role into a more hands-on, operationally focused leadership role. The Corporate Controller remains a key business partner to executive leadership while maintaining direct involvement in day-to-day accounting execution._______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting Leadership & OperationsLead and oversee all corporate accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, fixed assets, and revenue recognitionMaintain full ownership of the company’s P&L and balance sheet from an accounting and reporting perspectiveEstablish, document, and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controlsLead and develop a growing accounting team, including Accounting Managers, Accountants, and AP staffFinancial Reporting & CloseOwn the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and GAAP compliancePrepare and review consolidated financial statements and management reporting packagesOversee balance sheet reconciliations and ensure strong balance sheet disciplineCoordinate external audits and serve as the primary accounting liaison for auditorsControls, Compliance & Risk ManagementDesign, implement, and monitor robust internal control frameworksEnsure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local reporting requirementsSupport audit remediation efforts and continuous improvement of control environmentsOversee accounting compliance for multi-entity, multi-state operationsSystems & Process ImprovementServe as accounting owner or key leader for ERP and financial systems (e.g., NetSuite, BlackLine)Optimize chart of accounts, workflows, reconciliations, and reporting structuresLead initiatives to standardize accounting practices across entities and locationsIdentify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalabilityStrategic & Cross-Functional PartnershipPartner closely with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial strategySupport executive decision-making through financial analysis and insightCollaborate with Operations, HR, and IT leaders on business initiatives, integrations, and system implementationsProvide accounting leadership for acquisitions, integrations, and special projects_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________QualificationsRequiredBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s degree preferred)8–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including senior-level leadershipStrong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controlsProven experience owning a full P&L and leading complex close processesExperience managing accounting teams in a multi-entity or multi-location environmentPreferredExperience in environmental services, transportation, industrial, or service-based industriesERP implementation or optimization experience (NetSuite preferred)Experience with BlackLine or similar reconciliation toolsExperience supporting M&A activity, integrations, or private-equity-backed organizationsCPA Preferred but not required_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Leadership CompetenciesHands-on, detail-oriented leadership style with strategic perspectiveStrong people leadership and team development capabilitiesHigh level of accountability, ownership, and integrityAbility to communicate effectively with executives and cross-functional leadersProactive problem-solver with a continuous-improvement mindsetWhy Join Capital Waste ServicesHigh-impact leadership role with direct visibility to the CFO and executive teamOpportunity to build and scale best-in-class accounting processesGrowing organization with long-term career potentialCompetitive compensation and benefitsPIcd1bc24aa7d3-37483-40149089
