Athletic Trainer | Physical Therapy | Full-Time | South Portland, ME

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSPrepares patient for treatment to include assisting with undressing/dressing, and putting on and removing any supportive devices such as splints, slings and bracesAssists with treatment as directed by the Physical Therapist or Physical Therapy Assistant as allowed in the State Practice ActSafeguards, motivates and assists patients in practicing exercises and functional activities under the direct supervision of a physical therapistProvides services to include heat/cold modalities, prevention of injury, bracing and taping as allowed in the State Practices ActTests and measures to evaluate athletic injuries and administers exercises for reconditioning of athletesCommunicates with supervisor and other health care interdisciplinary team members regarding patient's response to treatmentKeeps treatment areas clean, organized and unobstructed, cleans equipment after treatmentMaintains adequate supply of inventory and organizes treatment areaChanges linens when applicable between patientsTreats all patients with respect and maintains confidentiality of patient informationJOB REQUIREMENTSBachelor Degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine or related fieldATC - Maine State Board of Certification1-3 years of clinical experience in the outpatient setting preferredDemonstrates effective communication methods either, written, verbal, non-verbal or electronicListens to and acknowledges the concerns of patients and peersInterpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and other health care providersMakes effective decisions that reflect clear and logical thinkingDemonstrates flexibility in examining new approaches in response to changing organizational objectivesIdentifies and works proactively to solve problemsPrioritizes work activity based on department demands to complete assignments within designated timeframes with little to no supervisionDemonstrates behavior that protects the safety of self/others of the department and equipmentContinued education appropriate to the position to maintain a competent level of practiceEqual Opportunity Employer
