Job Title: Mine Technician (Surveyor)Reports To: Chief Mine EngineerLocation: New Mexico - EastOVERVIEWThe Mine Surveyor is responsible for interacting with various engineering and operations groups to ensure completion of assigned tasks and projects, and performing underground and surface surveying functions to support operations.JOB DUTIESUnderstand and utilize Advanced Surveying ProceduresPerform closed loop traverses with a level, theodolite or a Total StationCreate and update a wide variety of maps, including Mine Panel Maps, Belt Conveyor Maps and Escape MapsConduct volume and quantity surveys on stockpiles and product storage warehouses, and land, boundary, construction layout and location validation surveying.Survey and record field measurements related to inventory, engineering and construction project work.Prepare data, plots, maps, charts, records, and documents related to surveysSearch archives for survey and construction design and as-built records as may be relevant in ongoing surface construction and maintenance work.Assist in the preparation of descriptive narratives and tables on surveys to be used in project scopes of work and bid documents on construction and land projects.Maintain the site (surface and underground) control survey databasePerform other duties as assignedREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or GEDValid driver's licenseMinimum two (2) years experience of underground or surface surveying experience requiresDrafting skills adequate to upload survey measurements into a computer system and create drawings and maps using AutoCAD and Carlson SuiteWorking knowledge of various standard world coordinate systems, geoids, datum and translation/conversion of local systems preferredExperience with hand-held power tools and 4-wheel drive vehicles requireOPPORTUNITIESMedical plans with prescription drug coverage, dental insurance and vision insurance401(K) with immediate vesting and generous employer matchWork-life balance with family-friendly work schedulesOpportunity to grow within position through Intrepid's career path programSCHEDULE AND WORK ENVIRONMENT9/80 schedule, Monday - Thursday, 9-hour workdays, Fridays worked, 8-hour workday, with every other Friday off. Schedule subject to change.Underground mining environment that is often not well lit and is at low heightsExposed to louder than moderate noises (ex: vehicle noises, machinery noises, etc.)Employees are required to wear safety attire and personal protective equipment (PPE) at all timesPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSStanding, walking, sitting (while driving) over 2/3 of work time, squatting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and fingers movements, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching or grasping.Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., and push and/or pull up to 50 lbs. less than 1/3 of the timeMust be able to perceive color differencesWill be required to wear personal protective equipment as neededA pre-placement physical and hair follicle drug test will be required for anyone selected for this opportunity.
