DescriptionJunior Systems EngineerLocation: MacDill AFB, FLLeidos is seeking a motivated and detail oriented Junior Systems Engineer to support mission critical operations at MacDill AFB. This role is ideal for an early career professional who thrives in dynamic environments and is eager to build hands on experience managing both classified and unclassified systems.You will play a key role in supporting the maintenance, optimization, and security of enterprise systems that directly contribute to operational readiness.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, operate, and maintain a range of physical and virtual systemsDesign, plan, and execute system backups and disaster recovery processesPerform daily operations and maintenance of VMware technologies including ESXi, Horizon, vCenter, and vSphereManage and maintain enterprise storage solutions such as Nutanix and Dell platformsSupport virtual desktop infrastructure including virtual desktops and connection brokersBuild and deploy virtual desktop images using established USMC standard ISOsApply system patches, updates, and custom fixes across supported environmentsMonitor, analyze, and optimize system performance across hardware, software, and network servicesMaintain cybersecurity compliance and accreditation for all supported systemsBasic QualificationsBachelor’s degree with 4+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 2+ years of experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degreeDoD IAT Level I certification or higher, or Security+ / Network+ certificationActive Secret clearanceExperience supporting zero client technologyHands on experience with VMware vSphere, hypervisor management, and VDI environmentsExperience building and deploying ESXi servers, including cluster creation and expansionExperience creating VMware images for Windows Server and Windows 10/11Practical experience with Microsoft Server virtualization deployment and maintenanceExperience implementing VMware Horizon ViewProficiency with Windows 10 and 11Experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy managementFamiliarity with Nutanix AOSValid U.S. passport with ability to travel internationally on short noticeAbility to work in austere and drug free environmentsPreferred Qualifications4+ years of systems training experienceVMware Certified Associate or Professional certificationNutanix Certified Associate or Professional certificationAbility to respond to crisis situations and support surge operations, including extended work hoursAMSOPP1If you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling.
