The role leads a team responsible for managing natural gas, electricity and related energy services agreements for our members. It involves client and supplier engagement, contract risk management, strategy development, and a focus on reducing the client's annual energy spend.Required qualifications include a proven track record of leadership, strong communication and organizational influence with executives, advisory boards, legal, finance, and account management. Expertise in sustainability and resiliency is also required.What you will do in this roleEnsure best-in-class industry pricing, contract terms and conditionsInterpret complex internal or external business issues and take a broad perspective in identifying and executing solutionsResponsible for department performance and outcomesProvide thought leadership and strategic direction for the Energy teamDirect, staff, train and motivate energy sourcing teamEnsure effective collaboration across other functional groups including account management, finance, sales and other internal organizationsLead interaction with client board membersEngage senior executive management in strategic contracting discussionsSupport sales and account management activities to ensure a healthy pipeline of potential member customersCultivate strategic relationships with both suppliers and clientsDevelop and achieve financial and performance goalsInnovate and develop new client solutionsIdentify contract opportunities for resiliency/sustainability solutions for members and assist with execution of agreements for member utilizationPerform other duties as assignedPractice and adhere to the "Code of Conduct" and "Mission and Value Statement."What qualifications you will needAccredited College Bachelor's Degree in business, finance or engineeringAt least 15 years of relevant work experienceExperience directing a strategic sourcing team and negotiating a variety of contracts in the energy industryRelevant work experience in energy commodity trading, natural gas or electric utility contract negotiation, energy hedging, energy marketing, facility/plant operations, contracting financial analysis, commodity risk management, regulation of utility services, and strategic sourcingIn-depth understanding of the energy industry, including market dynamics, pricing comparisons, pipeline networks, regulatory issues, cost drivers, risk management, hedging strategies, and sustainability/resiliency effortsCertified Energy Procurement Professional (CEP) – PreferredCertified Energy Trader (CET) – PreferredIn today's challenging business environment of cost pressures, supply disruptions, and workforce shortages, it is crucial for providers to efficiently manage expenses and enhance performance.
