Please apply only if you are confident in your technical abilities and hands-on experience.Job SummaryWe are seeking a seasoned Microservices Architect to lead the design and evolution of large-scale microservices ecosystems built on modern container platforms and cloud-native technology stacks. The role requires deep expertise in service decomposition, domain-driven design, distributed data management, and runtime concerns such as resilience, observability, and security at scale. The ideal candidate brings hands-on architectural leadership across complex transformations, with a clear point of view on when microservices are the right answer, how to evolve them safely, and how to keep the resulting estate maintainable over the long term.Key ResponsibilitiesDefine microservices architecture standards, service boundaries, and decomposition strategies aligned with domain-driven design principlesLead the modernization of legacy monoliths into well-bounded, independently deployable services with clear ownershipDesign service communication patterns leveraging REST, gRPC, asynchronous messaging, and event streaming as appropriateEstablish API contracts, schema governance, and versioning strategies that enable safe evolution of services over timeArchitect resilient distributed systems incorporating circuit breakers, retries, bulkheads, and graceful degradation patternsDefine data ownership models, transactional boundaries, and patterns such as outbox, saga, and CQRS where appropriateLead the design of platform capabilities including service mesh, API gateway, identity propagation, and shared observabilityDrive performance engineering, capacity planning, and scalability analysis across critical service domainsEstablish CI/CD, testing, and deployment standards optimized for high-frequency, low-risk service releasesDefine observability standards including structured logging, distributed tracing, and SLO-driven monitoringCollaborate with security teams to ensure zero-trust principles, secrets management, and runtime protection are embeddedMentor engineers and tech leads on microservices best practices and anti-pattern avoidanceLead architecture reviews and provide guidance on service design proposals across multiple teamsContinuously evaluate emerging cloud-native technologies for adoption based on maturity and strategic fitRequired QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related disciplineEight or more years of software engineering experience, with several years in architecture rolesDeep expertise in microservices design, domain-driven design, and distributed systems patternsStrong hands-on experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and service mesh technologiesProficiency in at least one major backend language such as Java, Go, or C#Strong understanding of API design, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous messagingExperience operating high-traffic, latency-sensitive systems in productionStrong knowledge of cloud platforms and managed services across at least one major providerExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsDemonstrated ability to lead architecture initiatives spanning multiple teamsPreferred QualificationsExperience with platform engineering and internal developer platform constructionFamiliarity with Istio, Linkerd, Envoy, or comparable service mesh technologiesExposure to FinOps practices and cloud cost optimization at scalePublic speaking, open-source contributions, or published technical writingExperience in regulated industries with strict compliance requirementsHow to ApplyWould you like to know more about this opportunity?For immediate consideration, please send your resume to venkat.r@bvteck.com or contact us at (908) 505-3899.
