The CNA assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to onacutely ill patients and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the directionand supervision of the registered nurse in charge of the team and/or unit. Performs all work withaccordance to the mission, visions, and values of Ashe Memorial Hospital (AMH).Minimum Job Qualifications:Experience:One year experience preferred.License/CertificationsHigh school graduate or equivalent preferred.Current BLS Certification.Current Certified Nursing Assistant Certification in State of NCESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Assess patient's needs by making rounds. Identifies patient care needs and appropriately notifiesnurse.2. Plans and organizes nursing care activities according to priorities.3. Maintains a safe and clean working environment.4. Ensures safe operation of equipment.5. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies.6. Answers call lights, bells or intercom system to determine patient needs and in a polite and professionalmanner.7. Transports patients, using wheelchairs or stretchers; Assists with ambulation.8. Documents, monitors and reports symptoms and changes in patient status.9. Turns and repositions bedfast patients every 2 hours, alone or with assistance to prevent decubiti;gives backrubs to all patients when turning.10. Maintains confidentiality of patient records.11. Communicate effectively with patients, families and other team members.12. Changes bed linens, runs errands, directs visitors, answers telephone and assists nurse as needed todeliver complete patient care.13. Accurately assess and documents vital signs, food and fluid intake and output correctly.14. Assists patients to perform activities of daily living.15. Uses time productively.16. Checks dirty work room at end of scheduled shift, cleans and prepares equipment for nursing unit, andreturns to proper storage area.17. Provides explanation to patient and family prior to administering care to patient.18. Ability to be flexible, organized, and function under stressful and emergency situations.19. Interacts professionally and treats patients and families with respect and dignity.20. Maintains a good working relationship both within the nursing department and throughout theorganization.21. Demonstrates a positive attitude toward patient care assignments.22. Seeks guidance from RN/LPN in uncertain situations.23. Functions as an effective team member to ensure completion of all patient care assignments.24. Checks patient identification prior to providing care.25. Completes annual employment requirements such as annual employee health and AMH Healthy andSafety Inservice commonly referred to as ADI.26. Maintains regulatory requirements of CNA license renewal and CPR certification.27. Adheres to the attendance policy.28. Utilizes Kronos system correctly to accurately record working hours.29. Attends scheduled staff meetings and in services.Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations (i.e., flu shot, etc.). All new employees working must be fully vaccinated as a condition of employment (unless the new hire has requested and received an exemption).
