Mfg Tech - Foundry

Founded in 1963, Townley Engineering & Manufacturing is a rapidly growing, American-made solutions expert for wear and abrasion problems found in the mining, dredging, and power industries. We are looking for motivated individuals, not afraid to get dirty, for our state-of-the-art white iron foundries. These positions perform a combination of duties in foundry such as; creating molds, melting metal, pouring metal into molds, removing castings from molds, moving foundry materials, moving sand, castings or other materials through the foundry by crane and forklift.Essential Job Functions:Pack sand molds and pour molten metals into sand moldsBreak up sand molds and slagAbility to apply mold coating, ramming/packing sand molds, closing, furnace operations, and shakeoutSkim slag from surface of molten metalRemove gates, sprues and other projections from castingsMeasure out correct amounts of materials for furnace and loads chargeMonitor the pouring of molten metal into molds and other forms to create castings with the help of ladles and hand-operated equipment.Carefully track the temperature gauges and color, heating units, furnace flames, etc. to melt metal as per requirements.Clean castings and patternsFollow oral and written instructions and/or direction given by supervisors to complete assigned work projectsEnsure work area is clean and safe This is not a complete list Requirements; additional duties may be assigned as needed.Requirements:Ability to proactively troubleshoot problemsWork as a team within department and with other departments and LeadsAbility to work scheduled hours and comply with the company's timekeeping policy and all other company policiesPhysical Demands:Must be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted. Physical capability to properly handle tooling and safely set up large pieces; including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning products.
