Used Truck Sales Manager

The ideal candidate is a motivated, well-organized individual who has a deep understanding of prospecting and developing strong relationships with customers. Sales Leadership & PerformanceDevelop and implement sales strategies to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual targets.Monitor and coach sales team performance through regular one-on-ones, training, and goal reviews.Set pricing strategies that balance competitiveness with profitability.Approve and structure deals to ensure they align with company profit and compliance goals.Inventory & Lot ManagementOversee intake, appraisal, and reconditioning of incoming trucks.Ensure all trucks are frontline-ready with proper detailing, mechanical prep, and safety inspections.Manage lot organization so inventory is presented attractively and accessibly.Forecast inventory needs based on market trends and sales velocity.Advertising & MarketingCoordinate with marketing teams (or directly manage) online listings, social media, and print ads.Approve photography, descriptions, and promotional campaigns for all units.Plan special events, promotions, and trade shows to generate leads.Customer RelationsStep in on key customer deals to assist with closing high-value sales.Resolve escalated customer issues promptly and professionally.Foster repeat and referral business through relationship management and after-sale follow-ups.Operational & Financial ManagementMonitor profitability metrics such as gross profit per unit, turn rates, and expense control.Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations for commercial truck sales.Approve trade-in valuations and wholesale decisions.Maintain strong relationships with finance department to maximize deal structure options.Team DevelopmentRecruit, interview, and onboard new sales staff.Conduct regular sales training on product knowledge, selling techniques, and compliance.Create a positive, high-performance culture through recognition and accountability.Qualifications:Experience & BackgroundProven experience in commercial, heavy-duty truck or vehicle sales (3–5+ years preferred), with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.Prior management or team leadership experience, ideally in a dealership environment.Experience with inventory management and vehicle reconditioning processes.SkillsStrong negotiation and closing skills, both B2B and B2C.Ability to analyze market trends and adjust strategies accordingly.Proficient with CRM systems, DMS platforms, and online sales tools (Truck Paper, Commercial Truck Trader, etc.).Skilled in digital marketing for truck sales, including listings, photos, and targeted advertising.Financial acumen to manage P&L, gross profit per unit, and expense control.Leadership & People ManagementAbility to motivate and coach a sales team to achieve performance goals.Strong conflict resolution and decision-making skills.Experience in recruiting, onboarding, and developing talent.Personal AttributesHigh energy and results-driven.Professional, trustworthy, and customer-focused.Adaptable to changing market conditions and able to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
