WMES General Education TeacherEXAMPLES OF DUTIES:Specific Duties:Plan, implement, and evaluate classroom instruction and activity programs consistent with building and adopted district curriculum.Diagnose and prescribe learning programs for individual and groups of students based on aptitude, interest and level of achievement.Provide for individual needs of assigned students, cooperate with building principal and staff in implementation of comprehensive instructional activities program.When appropriate, provide individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual abilities, attitudes, and cultural backgrounds.Ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with the teaching team.Knowledge and skill in instructional principles, methods and techniques.Experience or knowledge of intermediate grade level curriculum.Must be flexible and able to handle change in a professional positive manner.Skill in obtaining, clarifying and exchanging information.Skill in classroom management.Ability to organize and coordinate activities.Ability to serve as role model and treat students as individuals in a professional manner.Maintain confidentiality.Carry out the assignments of the building principal.QUALIFICATIONS:Essential:Bachelor's degree in the field of education.A valid Washington State teaching certificate.Endorsement in K-8 elementary education.Ability to establish positive discipline procedures.Ability to establish relationships with students, parents and community.Willingness to implement and support the program.Willingness to be involved with school reform activities aimed at ensuring student success.Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background ClearancePreferred:Successful teaching experience at the elementary school level.A demonstrated ability to work well with people from a variety of backgrounds.A demonstrated ability to motivate, discipline, and interact with students in a productive manner.Knowledge of benchmarks and ability to ensure student success on the Smarter Balance Assessments.RESPONSIBLE TO AND EVALUATION BY: WMES PrincipalBENEFITS: Medical, dental, vision, retirement, sick leave, and personal leaveThe following employees have been designated to handle questions and complaints of alleged discrimination: Civil Rights Coordinator: Ryan Greene, 360-785-3537, rgreene@winlock.wednet.edu.
