This is a senior individual contributor role with broad technical ownership, deep hands-on development, and meaningful influence across the organization.You’ll serve as the technical owner of the Built Inspection Application, shaping its architecture, performance, reliability, and developer experience. Beyond a single application, you’ll help define how mobile engineering is done at Built - setting standards, influencing roadmaps, and partnering closely with Product, Design, Backend, and Platform teams to ensure mobile is a first-class citizen across our platform.This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex mobile problems, thinking at the platform level, and raising the engineering bar through both execution and influence.What You’ll Do Mobile Engineering & DevelopmentDesign, build, and maintain native iOS (Swift / SwiftUI) and Android (Kotlin / Jetpack Compose) applicationsOwn the Built Inspection Application end-to-end, including architecture, quality, stability, and long-term scalabilityLead complex feature development from concept through production and post-launch supportArchitect secure, performant, and maintainable mobile solutionsEnsure strong standards for testing, observability, performance, accessibility, and offline/data-sync behaviorTechnical LeadershipDefine and drive mobile engineering standards across Built, including architecture patterns, tooling, CI/CD, testing, and release processesMake thoughtful technical decisions that balance delivery speed with long-term platform healthProactively identify and address technical debt, platform risks, and scalability concernsAct as a subject-matter expert for mobile engineering across the companyCross-Functional CollaborationPartner closely with Product and Design to translate business needs into high-quality mobile experiencesCollaborate with Backend and Platform teams to define APIs and end-to-end system behaviorInfluence product and technical roadmaps through feasibility assessments and tradeoff analysisMentorship & InfluenceMentor and support other engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and knowledge sharingHelp raise the overall engineering bar across the organizationContribute to hiring, onboarding, and the growth of mobile engineering talent at BuiltWhat We’re Looking For Required QualificationsExtensive experience building and shipping native mobile applications for both:iOS using Swift and SwiftUIAndroid using Kotlin and Jetpack ComposeExperience with local persistence frameworks such as CoreData (iOS) and Room (Android)Proven ability to design, own, and evolve large-scale, production mobile applicationsStrong understanding of mobile architecture patterns (e.g., MVVM, Clean Architecture)Experience with mobile CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and release workflowsDeep knowledge of mobile performance, security, and offline-first or data-sync patternsStrong communication skills and the ability to influence across teams without direct authorityTravel Requirement:This role requires approximately, as needed to support business prioritiesStaff-Level (E4) ExpectationsOperates with high autonomy and minimal directionThinks beyond individual features to platform-level impactMakes durable technical decisions with company-wide implicationsElevates teammates through mentorship and technical leadershipBalances hands-on execution with strategic thinkingBuilt’s salary range for this position is $185,000-$235,000 USD per year. The pay range is designed to accommodate upward mobility in the role, therefore it encompasses the full span of proficiency levels for this role and we believe that the midpoint of the range is competitive in the market. Salary is just one component of Built's total compensation package for employees. Your total rewards package at Built will include equity, top-notch medical, dental and vision coverage, an unlimited PTO policy, and other benefits. Travel Requirement:Teammates must be able to travel at minimum twice per year to Nashville, TN or another designated location for company-wide events (e.g., "Connect Week").
