Salary : $46,823.71 - $67,894.38 Annually Location : City of Midlothian, TX Job Type: Full Time Job Number: 2526-00650 Department: Engineering (17) Division: WTP 2 - Auger (39) Opening Date: 05/14/2026 Closing Date: Continuous FLSA: Non-Exempt Position Summary Starting Hiring Range: $46,823 - $57,359, annually Under direct supervision, this position performs work in the inspection, operation, and maintenance of the City's water treatment plants and pumping facilities to ensure safe, potable water for municipal and public use in accordance with Texas Commission of Environmental Quality and Environmental Protection Agency regulations. Essential Job FunctionsPerforms required TCEQ water testing procedures by assisting with checking treatment process at each sample point.Verifies the calibration of lab equipment.Monitors the treatment process by checking the chemical pumps, high service pumps, filters, and treatment equipment.Checks the elevated storage tank levels.Responsible for keeping a safe work environment including but not limited to, cleaning hazardous chemical spills and containment areas, removal of blockages in water and debris and clutter from workspaces, and basic cleaning of work and break facilities.Performs general preventative and scheduled maintenance of vehicles and equipment; makes routine inspections and makes minor mechanical repairs or adjustments; assists on major maintenance and repairs.Regulates and adjusts motors, pumps, valves, and other equipment to meet changing operating conditions.Begins the sludge removal process and checks filtered beds.Cleans and maintains beds including operating heavy and small loaders to remove sludge, washing beds with fire hose, and observing for potential hazards (holes and slow drains)Maintain grounds using mower, edger, weed eater, trimmers, and weedkiller as appropriate.Receives chemical deliveries, puts up supplies, changes light bulbs, sweeps and mops floors, and takes out the trash.Performs all other duties as assigned. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED equivalent, is required. Minimum of one (1) year experience in minor plumbing or general maintenance is required. Special Requirements Works 12-hour shifts. Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, holidays, and weekends. Subject to be on-call during non-working hours. This position is classified as a safety-sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing during the course of employment. Licenses & Certifications TCEQ Water Class C (Surface Water) license is required or must be obtained within 2.5 years of employment. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record as established by the City of Midlothian driving standards. Work Environment Work is performed in both outside (occasionally during inclement weather) and inside (climate and non-climate controlled) facilities. May be exposed to heights, confined spaces, noise, gases, and hazardous chemicals. Physical demands are sedentary in nature with prolonged sitting. Work causes fatigue of eyes, fingers or other faculties because of fairly continuous use of motor senses. May be called upon to perform heavy manual labor which involves lifting, carrying, and pushing objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
