Payroll and Benefits Specialist - Headquarters

Payroll And Benefits SpecialistIn support of Texas Bay Credit Union's mission to help our members achieve their financial goals and our vision to stand out as a leading financial institution, the Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of employee compensation and the administration of employee benefits programs. This role serves as the subject matter expert for payroll administration and benefits management. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manage and process the bi-weekly payroll cycle, including data entry, time record verification, and timely transmission of payroll, as well as any off-cycle payrolls Prepare and manage all payroll reports and partnering with appropriate departments, including but not limited to overtime reports, ACA reporting, timecard error reports, retirement funds, and journal vouchers as needed Manage entire benefits cycle, including heath benefits and retirement benefits, for all employees from educating, enrolling, to unenrolling monthly Review and process premium bills for all Human Resources (HR) vendors in partnership with the Accounting Department to ensure timely and accurate payments Reconcile general ledger accounts relating to employee benefits Administer employee leave programs from initial notification through return to work, including tracking eligibility, documentation, and compliance with FMLA, ADA, and other applicable regulations Coordinate service awards and employee recognition programs Support positive employee relations by assisting employees with questions regarding benefits, payroll, policy-related matters, and employee concerns Maintain the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) records and personnel in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements Conduct Manager and Supervisor training regarding timekeeping practices and scheduling requirements to ensure compliance with company policy Assist with annual healthcare renewal process, including meeting with insurance brokers, preparing enrollment materials, setting up enrollment plans in HRIS, and coordinating open enrollment for employees Maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion to protect employee information and uphold TBCU's professional reputation Other Duties and Responsibilities Assist with recruiting process, including but not limited to, conducting phone interviews, in person interviews, job offers, and onboarding processes Assist with the termination process including supporting Management during termination conversations, conducting exit interviews and maintaining termination documentation in accordance with labor laws Participate in the development and improvement of policies, procedures, and HR programs Play an active part in helping credit union teams function smoothly and efficiently Perform other duties as assigned or needed As an employee of an Essential Business, employees are expected to report to work as scheduled during state-issued emergency declarations Required Knowledge (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree One year to three years of similar or related experience Successful completion of required training courses Proficient in MS Office and computer skills Required Abilities Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills Analytical thinking, strong problem solving and decision-making skills Effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills Self-motivated and quick learner Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment Capable of working independently, accurately prioritizing workload with minimal supervision Excellent member service skills Demonstrated alignment with Texas Bay Core Values Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The employee is regularly required to walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, kneel, talk, hear, and climb stairs. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 10-15 pounds. This position requires viewing of computer monitor for extended lengths of time and travel to and from all credit union offices.
