If you have a passion for social work and making a difference in your local community, come join our Youth and Family Services team!Position SummaryProvides direct supervision, training, support, and review and evaluation of professional technical and para-professional staff involved in areas which could include Social Services. This position compiles reports and data to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures as well as assignment and monitoring of cases. This position provides feedback to staff to enhance their capabilities to perform efficiently.The second shift hours for this position are Monday - Friday 12:00pm-9:00pm, this position may require weekend work as needed.The position will be located at 10101 David Taylor Dr., Charlotte, NC 28262.Essential FunctionsSupervise, train and evaluate the performance of technical and para-professional staffConsult with teams and staff on individual case assignmentsDevelop procedures to meet department or program goals, ensuring adherence to regulatory guidelines.Reviews information with teams or staff members to provide guidance and direction in the delivery of servicesEstablish performance objectives, conducts periodic reviews and monitors progressMonitor budget activities and adjusts expenditures and makes recommendations as appropriateReview and audits staff cases and workloads to prioritize duties and referrals for new casesComplete monthly and quarterly program reportsProvide consultation to staff in complex case situations, acute emergencies, or cases which require a high level decisionCommunicate with and visit other public and private welfare agencies, hospitals and other institutions in order to exchange information and develop resourcesSeek additional sources to increase funding and expand servicesReview and analyze activity reports and statistics for continuous awareness of program operationMay be required to staff shelters in the event of a disasterMinimum QualificationsExperience:Minimum of five years of social services or human services experienceEducation:Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Health or related fieldCombination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted?: YesLicenses and CertificationsRequires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's LicenseRequires County Driving PrivilegesPreferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Social Work preferredA minimum of (2) years of supervisory experience preferred(3) years of Child Welfare experience preferredKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge ofGeneral social work principles and available resourcesSocial services procedures, practices and methodsSocial services related federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations relating to provision of public assistance, and social welfareCase management methods and techniquesServices offered by the county and other local public and private community based service agenciesSkillsInterpreting and implementing local, state and federal regulations that govern Health and Human ServicesExplaining and advocating for the needs of children, families, the elderly, disable adults and the impoverishedDemonstrated leadership skillsExcellent communication skills - both written and spokenAbilitiesAdaptability: Maintaining effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work responsibilities or environment; adjusting effectively to work within new work structures, processes, requirements, or culturesBuilding Partnerships: Identifying opportunities and taking action to build strategic relationships between one's area and other areas, teams, departments, units, or organizations to help achieve business goalsBuilding Trust: Interacting with others in a way that instills confidence in one's intentions and those of the organizationCommunication: Clearly conveying information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the information providedDecision Making: Identifying and understanding issues, problems, and opportunities; comparing data from different sources to draw conclusions; using effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions; taking action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequencesDelegating Responsibility: Allocating decision-making authority and/or task responsibility to appropriate others to maximize the organization's and individuals' effectivenessManaging Conflict: Dealing effectively with others in an antagonistic situation; using appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to reduce tension or conflict between two or more peopleComputer SkillsProficient in various computer applications including Microsoft Office SuiteWork EnvironmentWorks in an office setting with moderate noiseSelectionThis classification has been identified as having a role in the development of ADA compliant technologies and for which the incumbent agrees to follow County policies to the best of their abilities in order to meet these obligations.
