Machinist II

The 1st Shift Mill Operator – Machinist II will be responsible for the following:Machine parts to specifications using Manual Horizontal and Vertical Mills and/or CNC milling equipmentRead blueprints, drawings, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workPerform dimensional layout on all machined parts to confirm conformity to prints and routing instructions; complete required documentation (job card sign-off, SIS sheets, computer entry, etc.)Load, set, and touch off tooling applicable to program requirementsAlign and secure holding fixtures, vises, cutting tools, and materials onto milling machinesSelect appropriate speeds, feeds, and tooling for various materialsMonitor feed and speed of machines during machining process; adjust offsets (wear, geometry, cutter comp, work shift, etc.) as neededIdentify required surface finishes and ensure parts meet tolerance specificationsDeburr and stamp parts per specificationsMaintain a clean work area including chip removal, oil disposal, and general housekeepingOperate assigned milling machines independently with little to no guidance, including applicable setupRun multiple milling machines as requiredUse advanced trade mathematics and precision measuring instrumentsObserve all PPE requirements and safety rules including machining guards and safe lifting practicesComplete all other duties as assignedRequired QualificationsHigh School Diploma / GED from an accredited institutionMinimum 2 years of experience operating manual and/or CNC milling machines; experience in oil & gas, power, heavy equipment, or automation & controls preferredAdvanced knowledge of precision measuring tools such as dial and Vernier calipers, ID/OD micrometers, depth mics, and indicatorsAbility to read and interpret complex product specifications and drawingsMust be able to lift at least 40 pounds and perform prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pullingAbility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as requiredCertification to operate forklift, pallet jack, and craneVo-Tech Certificate preferredMechanically inclined and comfortable with metal cutting machineryCompetenciesSafety focusedService-orientedBusiness focusedSelf-starterDependableStrong teamwork skillsResults orientedSense of urgencyCooper Machinery Services is an equal opportunity employer and gives all qualified applicants consideration of employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, any other characteristic protected by law.
