Assistant Controller – Investment PlatformPhoenix, AZ (On-site)About The OpportunityOur client, a growing and highly respected financial services firm based in Phoenix, is seeking an Assistant Controller – Investment Platform to help scale and evolve their investment accounting function.This is not a traditional accounting role. This individual will play a key role in building, optimizing, and modernizing the investment portfolio accounting and servicing infrastructure, working closely with senior leadership across finance, investment, and operations.This is a high-impact opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment and enjoys driving process improvement, leveraging technology, and influencing business outcomes.What You’ll DoOversee accounting and reporting across the firm’s investment portfolio, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timelinessPartner with investment, valuation, and finance teams to support portfolio activity, analysis, and reportingLead and support process improvement initiatives, including automation and workflow optimizationPlay a key role in evaluating and implementing new systems and tools to enhance scalability and reporting capabilitiesSupport month-end and year-end close processes, including financial reporting and disclosuresEnsure a strong internal controls environment, including SOX compliance and audit readinessPrepare materials and insights for senior leadership and key stakeholdersBuild, document, and enhance standard operating procedures and scalable processesMentor and support junior team members while collaborating cross-functionallyWhat We’re Looking ForCPA (active or inactive)8+ years of accounting experience, including public accounting (Big 4 or national firm preferred) Experience in investment, fund, or asset-based accounting environmentsStrong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls (SOX)Demonstrated experience with process improvement, systems, or technology initiativesAbility to translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insightsStrong communication skills and executive presenceComfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environmentPreferred QualificationsBackground in Big 4 or Public Accounting, financial services, asset management, or related industriesExperience working with investment portfolios, funds, or complex asset structuresExposure to data tools, BI reporting, or accounting systems implementationsWhy This RoleOpportunity to build and shape a key function within a growing platformHigh visibility and direct interaction with senior leadershipStrong emphasis on innovation, technology, and process improvementCollaborative and entrepreneurial team environmentAbout NextPlay JobsAt NextPlay Jobs, we believe great recruiting is personal, not transactional.
