The firm has a small, entrepreneurial culture and is seeking a strong leader who can help build the next stage of its client accounting services platform.About the Accounting Manager PositionThis is a high-impact leadership role within a growing firm, with visibility across client relationships, service delivery, team development, operations, and firm scalability. The Accounting Manager / Client Accounting Services Manager will help lead Kinline’s outsourced accounting service line and support the firm as it transitions from founder-led execution to a more scalable, process-driven model. The ideal candidate is not simply a strong accountant. This person must be able to manage and develop a team, oversee high-quality CAS technical delivery, improve processes and workflows, and serve as a confident client-facing advisor. This role will strengthen the team’s review and delivery process, document client and process knowledge, and serve as a thought partner as Kinline continues to grow.  The Four Core Pillars of This Role1. Team Leadership and DevelopmentLead, coach, and develop accounting associates and senior associates through day-to-day direction, review feedback, and real-time problem solving.Create clarity around responsibilities, deadlines, quality standards, and client service expectations.  Help team members grow technically and professionally by turning review comments and client work into learning opportunities.Support onboarding and training of new hires so they can ramp quickly into Kinline’s processes, clients, and service standards.Model accountability, ownership, responsiveness, and a high-performance mindset across the team.2. CAS Technical Excellence and ReviewOversee outsourced accounting engagements, including month-end close, AP, AR, payroll coordination, reconciliations, transaction coding, expense management, and client reporting.Review workpapers, reconciliations, journal entries, financial statements, and reporting packages for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.Ensure clients are reporting on a GAAP or accrual basis, with expenses and revenue recorded in the appropriate periods.Identify and resolve accounting issues, including cleanup work, chart of accounts design, accounting standard implementation, and other technical or advisory projects.Build stronger review procedures so mistakes are caught, patterns are addressed, and team members continue improving month over month.3. Process, Workflow, and ScalabilityIdentify opportunities to improve existing processes, workflows, close procedures, client handoffs, and internal review routines.Help document client-specific knowledge, historical decisions, recurring issues, and engagement-specific processes so information does not live primarily with one person.Support stronger adoption and use of workflow tools, including Karbon, to create consistency, visibility, accountability, and scalability.Create practical systems, checklists, and standards that help the team serve clients more efficiently and consistently.Partner with Founder and the team to evaluate how automation, AI, and other tools may improve service delivery, knowledge management, and client support over time.4. Client-Facing Advisory and Relationship ManagementServe as a primary client contact and trusted advisor, building strong relationships with founders, CEOs, CFOs, controllers, investors, and other key stakeholders.Lead client meetings, present reporting packages, explain trends and variances, and support management with financial analysis and decision-making.Respond with urgency and professionalism to client needs, especially when timing is critical or the request is high-stakes.Proactively identify issues, recommend solutions, and help clients improve the quality and usefulness of their financial information.Additional ResponsibilitiesManage several client engagements from top to bottom, coordinating timelines, deliverables, team assignments, and client communication.Prepare, review, and present client reporting packages, including financial statements, flux analysis, trend analysis, and budget-to-actual insights.Coordinate month-end close timelines and implement practical close processes across clients.Maintain and improve month-end workpapers, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and documentation.Design, maintain, and improve charts of accounts for new and existing clients.Support annual 1099 reporting, vendor maintenance, AP processes, payroll coordination, and expense management workflows.Collaborate with Founder on firm growth, service line development, and operational improvements.Required Experience and SkillsBachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in accounting or a related field.CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred.6+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally with outsourced accounting, CAS, public accounting, advisory, or multi-client service experience.Demonstrated ability to lead, train, review, and develop accounting team members.Strong technical accounting knowledge, including accrual accounting, GAAP-based financial statements, month-end close, reconciliations, AP, AR, payroll, and financial reporting.Proven experience improving processes, documenting workflows, building checklists, or creating repeatable systems.Strong client-facing communication skills and the ability to explain accounting matters clearly to executives and business owners.Ability to operate with urgency, judgment, ownership, and professionalism in a fast-moving client service environment.Highly motivated, proactive, and able to work autonomously while also building alignment across a team.Tech-savvy and able to quickly learn, evaluate, and improve systems and workflows.Experience with QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Expensify, Gusto, Karbon, and related CAS technology platforms is a plus. The Right FitThis role is best suited for someone who enjoys both building and leading.
