Ophthalmic Technician Team Lead
Job TypeFull-timeDescriptionResponsible for daily patient care flow. Performs a number of data collection functions as delegated by the physician and/or Clinic Manager to allow for proper professional diagnosis, treatment and care of patient’s condition(s).Essential FunctionsResponsible for assisting with overseeing all technicians at the assigned location to ensure that the practice and/or office operate in an efficient manner and that the patients receive high-quality customer and clinical serviceResponsible for maintaining staff schedules prepared by the Ophthalmic Technician Manager to ensure adequate coverage and effective utilization of staffEnsure that the employees have completed required assignmentsResponsible for providing training to the employees in order to cross-train on double dutiesAssist the technicians at the assigned location office when indicated in identifying and solving problemsSupport established policies and procedures of the practice and interpret them to the technicians at the assigned location OfficeMaintain professional competence through participation in continuing education and other appropriate learning experiencesResponsible to display an attitude of respect and courtesy toward all patients, visitors/physicians, and coworkersProvide support to clinical staff with less advanced credentialsResponsible for Clinic monthly supply orderingPerform all other designated duties as directed by the Ophthalmic Technician Manager, Medical Director, and/or PracticeAdministratorOther duties assigned.RequirementsJob SpecificationsTypically has the following skills or abilities:Two to four years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or in a healthcare environmentDemonstrated comprehension of ophthalmic technician skillsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsProblem solver, with analytical skillsPersonable and empathetic with patient’s needs and concernsWell-organized with attention to detailAbility to work as a team memberDemonstrated comprehension of the principles of optics and refractionDemonstrated ability to perform comprehensive work-ups on 4 patients per hourDemonstrated computer literacyFull work up tasksExcellent organizational skills and diligenceStrong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with patients, colleagues, and health care professionalsExceptional attention to detail and accuracy in documentationDemonstrated commitment to patient care and safetyAbility to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environmentAbility to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environmentFlexibility to adapt to changing schedules and patient needsProfessional demeanor and the ability to maintain patient confidentialityBasic computer skills and familiarity with electronic health records systemsWorking ConditionsThe working environment is generally favorable.
