In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping individuals with intellectual and related disabilities live, work, and thrive in their communities.Position SummaryThe Direct Support Professional provides person-centered supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and other related conditions. DSPs help individuals build independence, develop skills, and achieve personal outcomes while promoting dignity, choice, and community inclusion.Key ResponsibilitiesTeach daily living, communication, social, and vocational skillsPromote independence, self-determination, and community integrationSupport individuals in achieving goals outlined in their service plansEnsure the safety and well-being of individuals at all timesProvide personal care support (bathing, toileting, feeding) as neededFollow behavior support plans and crisis intervention proceduresAssist individuals with accessing community activities and resourcesProvide safe and reliable transportationMaintain vehicle logs and safety checksComplete daily notes, incident reports, and service documentation accurately and timelyCommunicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and familiesEnsure confidentiality and comply with reporting requirementsParticipate in team meetings and ongoing trainingDemonstrate professionalism, respect, and ethical conductSupport a team-oriented work environmentMinimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED requiredAt least one (1) year of experience working with adults with disabilities (preferred)Valid driver's license and acceptable driving recordStrong communication and interpersonal skillsWork Environment & Physical RequirementsActive role requiring standing, walking, and occasional liftingWork in both indoor and outdoor settingsAbility to assist with personal care and respond to emergencies when neededEssential Employee StatusReport during emergencies, inclement weather, or facility closuresWork extended hours or be reassigned to meet critical service needsSupport continuity of care and ensure the safety of individuals servedWhy Join Ability Beyond Barriers?Meaningful, rewarding work that changes livesSupportive team environmentOngoing training and professional developmentOpportunity for career growthApply Today!Become part of a team that empowers individuals to live their best lives.
