Process Engineer
Overview
As a Process Engineer in Lear's Global Cutting Engineering team, you will translate customer CAD drawings into internal formats, adapt processes to new materials and standards, and run costing simulations to support sales. You’ll develop process controls aligned with leather and appearance requirements, and assist plant launches with strategies to maximize cutting profits. You’ll collaborate across global locations to improve documentation, tools, and production solutions, driving efficient leather cutting and value optimization.
ResponsibilitiesImprove documentation and process controls through cross-functional collaborationInterpret leather and seating standards, including NMLs and tolerancesLearn and apply leather manufacturing processes via product reviewsInterpret customer drawings, BOMs, and specs; release into internal formatCreate production solutions and plant strategiesRun costing simulations; assess material fallout, quote models, and utilizationsImport, set up, and run CNC-based utilization studiesMaintain engineering databases and price analysis systemsTrack leather cutting performance and support VA/VE activitiesTravel to plant locations to support evaluation of cutting
