Junior Process Engineer

*JOB PURPOSE & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:* · Support the R&D and Process Engineering teams in the development, testing, validation, and continuous improvement of coating processes, and polymeric ophthalmic lens manufacturing. · Assist in translating R&D trials and test results into practical process parameters, work instructions, and production-ready improvements under the guidance of senior engineers. · Execute and document laboratory, pilot, and production tests by preparing samples, mixing and testing lacquers, monitoring process conditions, and collecting reliable technical data. · Analyze process and test data, including physical, optical, coating-performance, and process-stability results, to support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, validation activities, and continuous improvement initiatives. · Prepare materials, samples, tools, equipment, and process conditions required for assigned experiments and tests, following approved procedures and safety standards. · Perform and document laboratory or process tests such as transmittance, color, photochromic performance, adhesion, hardness, abrasion resistance, impact performance, and other coating or product-related evaluations as required. · Monitor key process parameters during tests and validation runs, including yields, defects, cycle times, material behavior, equipment conditions, and process stability. · Prepare clear technical reports, test summaries, observations, and recommended next steps to support engineering decisions and process development work. · Contribute to the definition, update, and improvement of process parameters, test methods, work instructions, and standard operating procedures related to R&D and process engineering activities. · Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for process issues, coating performance, material behavior, and production test results. *QUALIFICATIONS:* · Bachelor’s degree or technical degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Optical Engineering, Automation, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field. · 0–2 years of experience in R&D, testing, process engineering, manufacturing engineering, quality, laboratory work, or internship/co-op experience in a technical environment. · Basic understanding of experimental testing, process data collection, technical documentation, and structured problem-solving tools. · Interest in coating processes, ophthalmic products, manufacturing technologies, process development, and industrial testing. · Ability to follow procedures, work with test methods, record accurate data, and maintain good attention to detail. · Analytical mindset, curiosity, willingness to learn, and proactive attitude toward continuous improvement. · Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical information clearly. · English speaker · Desirable: Spanish as a second language. *ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE: * · Internship, academic project, or entry-level experience related to polymer processing, coating application, lens manufacturing, testing, or product validation is a plus. · Basic knowledge of statistical analysis, design of experiments, Lean tools, Six Sigma concepts, or root cause analysis methodologies is desirable. · Experience using Excel or similar tools to organize, analyze, and present test data. · Familiarity with laboratory equipment, production environments, quality control tests, or technical reporting is beneficial. · Demonstrates curiosity, collaboration, proactivity, and a continuous improvement mindset. *PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * · Ability to lift up to 25 pounds when required.
