Finance Administrator
General Statement of Duties
Under general supervision of and reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Finance Administrator (FA) is primarily responsible for the day-to-day accounting activities of the organization, including a variety of bookkeeping and clerical tasks, the production of monthly and year-end financial statements, accounts payable activities and other projects that support the financial operations of the organization.
Distinguishing Features of the Position
This position requires a working knowledge of the Congregational financial rules, educational regulations and policies, and the frequent exercise of independent judgment in accomplishing financial duties. The FA also performs all other duties as assigned.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Illustrative only)
Plans, organizes, and performs the daily work of the Finance office;
Processes orders, requisitions, invoices and other requests for payment; Processes accounts payable disbursements, maintains vendor relations and produces year-end disbursement compliance reporting (1099s);
Compiles and tabulates data for financial statements and reports, performs general ledger operations, including the preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of accounts and maintenance of supporting schedules;
Prepares and makes bank deposits;
Assists CFO in maintaining employment related insurance records (pension, worker's compensation, unemployment compensation, etc.), properly updating the payroll system and preparing reports for the Diocese of Cleveland;
Maintains essential records and files;
Uses varied electronic and manual recording and information systems;
Prepares biweekly payroll materials;
Works closely with CFO on other projects and analysis as directed.
Job Requirements
Associate’s Degree in accounting with (5) years of relevant accounting experience
Solid understanding of accounting processes and procedures
Knowledge of not-for-profit accounting preferred
Proven ability to meet daily and monthly deliverables
Proficient with general ledger software systems and Microsoft Office suite
Good analytical, problem solving and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and tact
Ability to respond to department needs as demonstrated by rapid and high-quality responsiveness to requests
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the principal duties of the job.
Salary commensurate with experience.
Essential Functions
May be required to travel to perform certain work functions outside of an office environment
General office environment, must be able to utilize a phone, computer and screen and other office equipment. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, see and hear and occasionally stand, walk, reach, stoop, or kneel. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
Work Environment
The work of this position is primarily performed indoors. Depending upon the task being performed the employee may be subject to cold, heat, environmental allergens, dust, etc.
Additional Requirements
Possession of a valid Ohio Driver's license and personal insurance.
