Hospital PACU Nurse | Cambridge, Massachusetts

An opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse specialized in Post-Anesthesia Care and Endoscopy to support a dynamic gastrointestinal (GI)/endoscopy unit in Cambridge, MA. This contract position provides a critical role in delivering exceptional perioperative and post-procedural care in an efficient, patient-focused environment.Location OverviewCambridge, MA, known for its vibrant culture and proximity to major cities, offers a rich blend of history and innovation. The area provides excellent public transportation options and local amenities, making it an attractive place for healthcare professionals seeking a balanced lifestyle.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide expert nursing care in the GI/ENDO Endoscopy unit, including 7 procedure rooms and dedicated holding and recovery areas.Manage patient care for approximately 60-70 procedures daily, maintaining safe 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratios during procedures and 1:2-3 ratios in PACU bays.Operate and assist with Olympus endoscopy scopes, including setup, handling, and reprocessing protocols.Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient flow and high-quality care.Document patient care accurately using the EPIC electronic medical record system.Participate in a rotating day shift schedule from 7:15 am to 3:45 pm, with one rotating day of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, supporting the unit's hours from 6:30 am to 5:30 pm.Qualifications & Desired ExperienceActive Massachusetts RN License.Minimum 2-3 years of nursing experience in Endoscopy or PACU settings.Proficient with Olympus endoscopy scope setup and reprocessing.AHA ACLS certification required; SGNA or CBSPD certification strongly preferred.Ability to work in a fast-paced unit with a diverse patient population.Additional Details and PerksContract opportunity with a progressive healthcare team.Free on-site parking available.No floating required.Exposure to a high-volume, specialized 18-bed PACU and 8 procedural rooms.This contract role offers a unique chance to utilize specialized endoscopy nursing skills in a cutting-edge clinical environment with a supportive team and comprehensive resources.
