Job Description: Transportation / Drayage Supervisor\nJob Title: Transportation / Drayage SupervisorDepartment: TransportationReports To: General Manager / Operations ManagerLocation: Rincon, GA\n\nPosition Summary\nThe Transportation / Drayage Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily drayage operations between port/rail terminals and customer locations. This role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient execution of container pickup and delivery activities while leading drivers, managing port relationships, and meeting customer and organizational performance targets. The Supervisor plays a critical role in coordinating resources, resolving exceptions, and driving continuous improvement.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n1. Operational Leadership\n\n* Direct daily drayage operations, including container movements, dispatching, routing, and appointment scheduling.\n* Monitor port/rail terminal conditions, container availability, and real-time load statuses to ensure service commitments are met.\n* Adjust plans proactively based on delays, congestion, and equipment constraints.\n\n2. Driver Management & Support\n\n* Lead, coach, provide training, and mentor drivers.\n* Conduct safety meetings, communicate safety expectations, and monitor driver performance.\n* Address operational issues, delays, or route challenges impacting driver productivity and service.\n\n3. Port & Terminal Coordination\n\n* Develop strong working relationships with port authorities, terminal operators, and chassis pools.\n* Troubleshoot operational issues such as container holds, demurrage risks, equipment shortages, and gate restrictions.\n* Ensure proper documentation and clearances are in place for all container movements.\n\n4. Safety & Compliance\n\n* Enforce DOT/FMCSA regulations, Hours of Service, OSHA standards, and port security requirements (e.g., TWIC).\n* Conduct safety observations, participate in investigations, and support corrective action development.\n* Ensure accurate use of ELD systems and adherence to company safety policies.\n\n5. Customer Service & Communication\n\n* Provide timely, professional communication and service updates to customers.\n* Manage exceptions, proactively escalate risks, and execute service recovery plans.\n* Support customer KPI reporting and ensure consistent operational performance.\n\n6. Equipment & Asset Management\n\n* Oversee utilization and readiness of tractors, chassis, containers, and related equipment.\n* Coordinate maintenance, inspections, repairs, and inventory tracking.\n* Ensure proper documentation of equipment status and condition.\n\n7. Data Integrity & Reporting\n\n* Ensure accurate data entry in transportation management systems (TMS) and related platforms.\n* Verify milestones, container numbers, EDI events, billing data, and documentation accuracy.\n* Produce operational reports and performance updates for leadership.\n\n8. Continuous Improvement\n\n* Monitor key operational metrics such as:\n\n* Turn times\n* On-time performance\n* Demurrage and per diem control\n* Driver productivity\n\n* Identify process gaps and implement practical solutions to increase efficiency and reduce cost.\n\n\nQualifications\nRequired\n\n* 2-;4 years of transportation, logistics, or port drayage operations experience.\n* Strong understanding of port/rail terminal processes, containerized freight, and chassis operations.\n* Working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and safety practices.\n* Experience leading drivers or frontline operational teams.\n* Experience with TMS platforms and related logistics systems.\n* Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.\n\nPreferred\n\n* Experience in high?volume port environments or intermodal operations.\n* Experience in a 3PL or large-scale supply chain environment.\n* Familiarity with ELD systems (Samsara) and dispatching tools.\n* Experience with Power BI\n\n\nWork Environment\n\n* Fast-paced operational setting with frequent interaction at terminals, yards, customer, and with drivers.\n* May require early morning, evening, weekend, or on?call support depending on volume and port schedules.\n\n\nPhysical Requirements\n\n* Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.\nTransportation SupervisorThe Transportation Supervisor role has a national salary range of $62,500 - $70,000.For roles within California the range is $70,304 - $82,000 and Washington is $80,169 - $82,000.DHL Supply Chain offers multiple benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, Prescription, Discounted Stock Purchase, 401K and a generous PTO policy.Transportation is a pillar for any supply chain, and at DHL Supply Chain you are a part of everyday life; because a storm or the breakdown of a truck shouldn't stop our customer's products from getting to the consumer when they need them the most.
