POSITION: CTE Business and Marketing Teacher 1.0 FTELOCATION: Ellensburg High SchoolREPORTS TO: CTE Director & Building PrincipalPURPOSEDesign, implement, and continuously improve a comprehensive Business & Marketing Career and Technical Education (CTE) program that prepares students for postsecondary pathways, industry credentials, and high-demand careers. Provide engaging instruction, meaningful career-connected learning experiences, and support student development through the High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP) by developing and communicating clear learning targets and success criteria aligned to state standards and industry expectations, with instruction and professional practice aligned to the Washington State Teacher Evaluation Criteria and district instructional framework.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESInstruction & Student LearningDeliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in Business & Marketing pathways using a variety of instructional and assessment strategies to meet diverse student needsIntegrate career exploration, employability skills, and real-world applications into daily instructionSupport student development of meaningful High School and Beyond Plans through pathway alignment and postsecondary planningMaintain a safe, inclusive, and effective learning environmentEstablish and communicate high expectations for student learning and performance, ensuring all students are challenged and supported to achieve at high levelsUse formative and summative assessment practices to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordinglyProgram Development & LeadershipDesign and maintain a sequenced CTE Program of Study aligned to state standards, industry expectations, and regional labor market needsDevelop and update curriculum, course frameworks, and instructional materials ? Use student performance, enrollment, completion, and labor market data to evaluate and continuously improve program effectivenessComplete required program planning, reporting, and evaluation in alignment with state and district guidelinesEnsure curriculum and instruction reflect current industry standards, practices, and technologies Career Connected Learning & PartnershipsDevelop, coordinate, and supervise work-based learning experiences (e.g., internships, job shadows, school-based enterprises)Facilitate and collaborate with a CTE advisory committee to ensure program relevance and industry alignmentBuild and maintain partnerships with local businesses, industry professionals, and postsecondary institutionsSupport articulation and dual credit opportunities with community and technical colleges ? Communicate effectively with families and community partners to support student learning, career pathways, and program engagementStudent Leadership & EngagementAdvise and lead a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) such as DECA or FBLA, including leadership development, competitions, and student activitiesPromote equitable access and participation by actively identifying and removing barriers and supporting students from diverse and underrepresented populationsFoster student voice, leadership, and collaboration through authentic, real-world learning experiencesProfessional ResponsibilitiesCollaborate effectively with staff, administration, counselors, families, and community partners ? Participate in professional development and industry engagement to maintain current knowledge of business and marketing practicesMaintain accurate student, program, and financial records as requiredUphold district policies, procedures, and professional standardsEngage in reflective practice and continuous professional growth aligned to district and state evaluation criteriaMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSValid Washington State CTE Teaching Certificate in Business & Marketing or valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with 6,000 hours of relevant industry experienceCandidates without certification must have qualifying industry experience and a willingness to obtain CTE certificationDemonstrated experience or strong knowledge of business and/or marketing fieldsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience teaching CTE courses at the secondary levelExperience with work-based learning, industry partnerships, or school-based enterprises ? Experience advising CTSOs (e.g., DECA, FBLA)Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practicesREQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIESAbility to design instruction that meets diverse learning needsStrong collaboration, communication, and organizational skillsAbility to analyze and use data to improve student outcomes and program quality ? Proficiency with instructional technology and industry-relevant toolsADDITIONAL INFORMATIONThis position includes responsibility for extended learning opportunities such as student leadership activities, advisory engagement, and industry collaboration. Certain responsibilities, including CTSO advising, work-based learning coordination, and industry engagement, may require occasional travel and extend beyond the regular workday; these duties may be supported through stipends or supplemental contracts in accordance with district and collective bargaining agreements.Full-time positions are 7 hours per day for 180 days.Applicants interested must follow the application procedures carefully.
