It is an operations leadership position focused on: Battery performanceProcess creationVendor and OEM accountabilityKPI ownershipCross-functional executionYou’ll serve as the senior escalation point for BESS operations and play a critical role in how battery assets are operated, optimized, and scaled long-term.What You’ll DoBESS Operations Leadership: Own day-to-day operational readiness across an active BESS portfolioEstablish operating cadence for monitoring, issue triage, and corrective actionsEnsure all offtake and contractual performance requirements are metAct as escalation lead for complex electrical, controls, and performance issuesDrive rapid issue resolution and long-term fixesPerformance & KPIs: Own BESS performance metrics including availability and energy/power KPIsEnsure data quality, reporting accuracy, and actionable insightsIdentify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities across the fleetVendor, OEM & Warranty Management: Lead and manage third-party O&M providers and OEM relationshipsEnforce SLAs, quality standards, and accountabilityDrive warranty claims and compliance aligned with OEM requirementsSafety, Compliance & Risk: Ensure compliance with industry codes, safety standards, and best practicesPartner with EHS on fire/life-safety readiness (NFPA 855, UL 9540A)Support audits, emergency preparedness, and risk mitigationOperational Readiness & Handover: Lead or support HOTO from EPC/OEM into OperationsEnsure commissioning deliverables support stable, reliable operationImprove SOPs, communications, RACI, and operational processesWhat We’re Looking ForRequired: BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline5+ years of direct BESS operations leadership experience10+ years in renewable energyStrong knowledge of:BESS controls stack (BMS, EMS, PCS, SCADA)Utility-scale electrical systems and drawingsBESS performance KPIsProven ability to manage vendors, OEMs, and third-party O&MPreferred: MS in Electrical Engineering or advanced technical degreeExperience supporting utility-scale storage safety and regulatory expectationsBackground with major renewable or battery operatorsIdeal Candidate Profile: Ownership mindset with strong accountabilityConfident challenging vendors and driving resultsStructured, data-driven decision-makerStrong communicator and cross-functional leaderComfortable operating in a fast-growing, evolving organizationLocation & Travel Preferred: Texas or Southern CaliforniaRemote consideredTravel: Approximately 20–25% to project sites
