Senior Program Manager

What You'll DoThe Senior Program Manager drives execution of Avalara's most critical projects across the company. You will lead programs that improve performance, accelerate growth, and increase operational efficiency. The Senior Program Manager brings structure to complex work, aligns leaders and teams, and ensures programs deliver measurable outcomes. You will support mergers and acquisitions by leading integration efforts to ensure successful business and operational agreement.ResponsibilitiesWhat Your Responsibilities Will BeLead programs that move Avalara's priorities, ensuring understanding, clear plans, and measurable outcomesBuild and manage program plans by defining scope, milestones, dependencies, and success metrics across multiple teamsGuide execution by aligning team members, removing blockers, and ensuring programs achieve on time resultsPartner with senior leaders to define program goals, develop recommendations, and translate strategy into executionEstablish and run program operating rhythms that create visibility, accountability, and action across teamsIdentify risks and resolve issues by managing trade-offs, escalations, and priorities withSupport mergers and acquisitions by leading integration execution, ensuring agreement across systems, and teamsUse AI tools (such as n8n and similar workflow automation platforms) to improve program workflows, improve reporting, accelerate analysis, and enhance decision-makingWhat You’ll Need To Be SuccessfulRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business, information management, or a related field such as operations or technology8+ years of experience in program management, product management, or change managementLead large programs with measurable growthProgram management skills, including planning, dependency management, and risk managementExperience driving change and influencing team members in a matrixed organizationTranslate strategy into clear plans, actions, and outcomesExperience working with senior leaders and presenting to executive audiencesProficiency with program and collaboration tools (such as Smartsheet, Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel)Demonstrated experience using AI tools to improve workflows, automate processes, and enhance decision-making (such as n8n or similar automation platforms)Preferred QualificationsPMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalentExperience supporting mergers and acquisitions, including integration executionExperience in a corporate program management office (PMO) or similar strategic functionAdvanced experience using AI tools to automate workflows, create insights, and improve program deliveryExperience working in high-growth environmentsExperience in a SaaS (Software as a Service) companyFamiliarity with financial, operational, or product metrics used to measure performanceAvalara Success TraitsOwnership – Takes responsibility for program outcomes, drives projects from start to finishCuriosity – Asks questions and challenges assumptions,Adaptability – Adjusts quickly to changing prioritiesAvalara is an AI-first CompanyAI is embedded in our workflows, decision-making, and products.
