Job Description: Shift: First Shift Plans and Provides services, support, and instruction to assigned student throughout the school year in order to assure the health and safety of the student. Provides and assists the student assigned to them with daily needs including personal care such as changing, basic hygiene, and feeding; Accompanies the student to assigned locations throughout the school day including school cafeteria, restroom, classroom, gymnasium, and playground; Participates in the educational activities and engages students during instruction; Assists with loading and unloading of student from bus or van as needed; Communicates clearly and accurately, using questions and interactive techniques; Demonstrates flexibility, responsiveness, interest and enthusiasm, takes initiative; Follows established classroom management procedures, strategies, and techniques; Completes familiar tasks independently; Becomes familiar with assigned student's Instructional Goals and Behavior Plans, maintaining data as required; Assists in the implementation of Instructional Programs for each student, reviews progress with teacher on a regular basis; Participates as directed by instructor and administration in the planning and preparation of daily activities, materials and supplies; Follows established Board and School Staff Dress Code; Maintains a safe environment conducive for learning; Continues professional enhancement; Participates in required Staff In-Services including, but not limited to: MANDT, Van Training, CPR, Delegated Nursing, Child Abuse, Universal Precautions, MUI/UI, and others as required by Administration; Displays knowledge of and an awareness for the Board's Safety and Security Program; Follows established guidelines regarding Safety Rules, Accident Reporting, Emergency Codes, Drills, and Policies and Procedures; Practices Universal Precautions as outlined by the Board's Exposure Control Plan. Experience and Skills: High School graduate, prior experience working with school aged children with developmental disabilities, Ohio Department of educational certification required.
