Job Title:Research Technician 1Department:FAES | Horticulture and Crop ScienceThe Mackey Lab seeks to hire a Research Technician 1 to support ongoing research through computational data analysis and laboratory experimentation. The successful candidate will analyze existing datasets using the Ohio Supercomputer Cluster via command-line tools in RStudio and contribute to wet lab research investigating interactions between bacterial species and host plants. This role also includes participation in manuscript preparation for publication.Essential DutiesAnalyze previously generated datasets using RStudio and command-line tools on the Ohio Supercomputer ClusterPerform and support wet lab experiments investigating interactions between bacterial species and plant hostsAssist in maintaining laboratory workflows and experimental protocolsAccurately record, manage, and interpret experimental and computational dataContribute to drafting, editing, and finalizing scientific manuscripts for publicationCollaborate with lab members to advance research objectives and project goalsRequired QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED0 years of relevant experience requiredBasic familiarity or willingness to learn R, command-line environments, and data analysis toolsAbility to work both independently and as part of a research teamStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience with RStudio, bioinformatics, or use of high-performance computing systemsLaboratory experience in microbiology, plant biology, or a related fieldInterest in plant–microbe interactions and scientific researchPosition detailsThis position is a part-time, temporary position that will end within 1 year of the start date.Work location is in Columbus, OH, Kottman Hall.Additional InformationThis job profile is a Research Technician 1 (T1 level) on the career roadmap.The offer for this position will fall within the positions pay range based on internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualificationsLocation:Kottman Hall (0340)Position Type:Temporary (Fixed Term)Scheduled Hours:20Shift:First ShiftFinal candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check.
