The OpportunityA leading financial institution is looking for a seasoned Loan Middle Office VP to own day-to-day operations across its syndicated loan portfolio. This is a hands-on leadership role — you'll be managing a small team, driving operational excellence, and sitting at the intersection of front office, back office, credit, and counterparty relationships. If you thrive in a high-transaction environment and actually know your way around LoanIQ without needing a tutorial, keep reading.What You'll DoOversee end-to-end loan middle office functions including trade settlement, funding, interest and fee processing, and position reconciliation across syndicated and bilateral loan portfoliosServe as the primary LoanIQ subject matter expert — managing system workflows, troubleshooting breaks, and driving process improvementsLead and develop a small team of analysts and associates; own performance management, workflow allocation, and day-to-day coachingPartner with credit risk, front office, legal, and operations teams to ensure accurate and timely loan lifecycle managementDrive stress testing processes related to loan portfolio exposures — coordinating with risk and finance on regulatory and internal frameworksMonitor and resolve operational risk issues, escalating appropriately and implementing controls to prevent recurrenceSupport audits, regulatory inquiries, and internal reviews as the operational authority on loan processingIdentify and lead process improvement and automation initiatives — because "we've always done it this way" isn't a strategyWhat We're Looking For6–10 years of loan middle office or loan operations experience at a bank, credit fund, or loan servicerHands-on LoanIQ expertise — you are not learning it here, you are teaching it hereSolid understanding of syndicated loan structures, agent bank functions, credit agreements, and the broader loan lifecycleExperience with stress testing frameworks and loan portfolio risk conceptsProven people management experience — you know how to develop junior staff without micromanaging them into mediocrityStrong working knowledge of loan accounting, accruals, and reconciliation processesExcellent communication skills — you'll be translating operational complexity to senior stakeholders regularlyDetail-obsessed but able to see the bigger picture when it countsBonus PointsExperience with LSTA trade settlement standards and par/distressed loan tradingFamiliarity with CLO or credit fund operational structuresPrior involvement in system migrations or LoanIQ implementations/upgradesExposure to regulatory stress testing (DFAST, CCAR) in a loan contextWhy This RoleReal ownership, real team, real seat at the table.
