Wordpress Web Developer - Contract, Part Time, Remote, US Only
LunarLab is seeking a proactive, resourceful, consultative WordPress developer for our agency. As a WordPress Developer, you'll build and maintain websites for our clients across many different industries. We work with both new websites and existing websites, so you'll have the opportunity to build from scratch and to improve what's already there. The ideal candidate is someone who is communicative, curious, a great question-asker, a thoughtful problem-solver, open to feedback, and highly collaborative. We don't believe in silos and expect teamwork and collaboration with both your internal and client teams. We work with businesses of all sizes to design scalable software products for healthcare, financial services, sports, fitness, equipment rental, construction, eCommerce, social media, and more.Your Day-to-DayBuild, launch, and maintain WordPress websites for clients across a range of industries.Install, configure, update, and troubleshoot common WordPress plugins.Manage and update eCommerce components of websites, including updating shipping requirements or adding products.Keep sites secure, backed up, performant, and up to date.Proactively advise clients on how to keep their website current and useful over time.Communicate directly with clients and internal team members about scope, timing, and tradeoffs.Translate design files into responsive, accessible, well-built websites.Recommend improvements to content structure, functionality, and site performance.Document your work so both the team and non-technical clients can follow along.Read company-provided resources on creating inclusive and ethical software.Requirements & Qualifications5+ years of demonstrated professional WordPress development experience.Experience managing common WordPress plugins.Experience with eCommerce platform management (Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, etc). Shopify is the most immediate need.Highly communicative, proactive, and consultative in how you approach the work.Comfortable talking directly with clients and advising them, not just taking orders.Tenacious, curious, and collaborative in all aspects of your work.A quick learner with excellent communication skills.A portfolio of your work, which we will ask to see during the interview process.Thoughtful, discerning use of AI tools. You should personally understand and stand behind every line of code you ship.Nice to have:Design experience.Located in or near Birmingham, AL.Experience with startups and small businesses.Working knowledge of accessibility standards.Experience with Figma.Location & EligibilityYou must live and be authorized to work in the United States. We're remote-first, so you can work from anywhere in the US, though we'd love to find someone in or near Birmingham, AL if possible.This role is open to individual contractors only.
