Billing Clerk

We are looking for a detail-focused Billing Clerk to support project invoicing operations in Midland, Texas. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for someone who can manage billing workflows with precision, maintain organized financial records, and work effectively with project and accounting teams. The role centers on producing accurate invoices, monitoring project-related billing activity, and ensuring customer and contract requirements are met. Success in this position requires strong system knowledge, careful data review, and the ability to resolve billing issues promptly.Responsibilities:• Generate and submit customer invoices for project work using OpenInvoice and Ariba, ensuring all charges align with contractual terms and billing schedules.• Maintain billing activity in QuickBooks by updating records, reconciling transactions, and confirming that invoice data is complete and accurate.• Monitor project expenses, budget usage, and invoicing milestones so billing is issued on time and reflects current project status.• Investigate invoice exceptions, correct discrepancies, and communicate with clients to address questions related to charges or documentation.• Organize billing files and supporting backup materials to create a clear audit trail for each project and invoice submission.• Use Excel to review billing data, track outstanding invoices, and prepare reports that support financial visibility and follow-up actions.• Partner with project managers and accounting personnel to gather billing details, validate information, and keep invoicing cycles moving efficiently.• Prior experience in a billing, project billing, or closely related accounting support role.• Hands-on proficiency with OpenInvoice and Ariba is required.• Working knowledge of QuickBooks for billing entry, tracking, and reconciliation activities.• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to analyze billing data and maintain organized spreadsheets.• High level of accuracy with careful attention to detail in financial documentation.• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and multiple billing tasks at once.• Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with internal teams and responding to client billing inquiries.Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
