Job Description & Requirements Specialty: CVICU Discipline: RN Start Date: 03/23/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs Hours: 36 hrs/wk Start Date: Mar 23, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 3 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Medical ICU night shift position in St. Louis, MO, requiring a minimum of 3 years of inpatient Cardiac or Medical ICU experience and active MO or compact RN licensure. Details Cardiac Medical ICU in a hospital setting with 22 beds Night shift schedule, 19:00-07:30 Every other weekend required No on-call requirements 13-week contract Patient ratio of 1:2 Complex patient population including sepsis, respiratory failure (pneumonia, COVID, ARDS), post-cardiac arrest, GI bleed, DKA, PE, renal failure, liver failure, pancreatitis, overdose, suicidal ideations, and CIWA Specialized equipment includes Impella, IABP, Prismax CRRT, Zoll internal cooling device, and Arctic Sun EMR: Epic May float to stepdown units based on staffing needs Requirements Active RN license meeting eligibility requirements for the state of Missouri (MO license or compact license accepted) Current BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA required NIHSS certification required TNCC preferred Minimum 3 years of inpatient Cardiac Medical ICU experience required Experience recovering open-heart surgery patients directly from the OR (CVI experience) required Experience with cardiac emphasis (arrhythmias, STEMI, post-arrest) preferred Valid U.S. Social Security Number required No gaps in employment of 90 or more days within the past 12 months Additional Information Facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center, Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Level 1 STEMI Center Facility has earned Joint Commission Gold Seal for Advanced Certification in Heart Failure Night shift orientation takes place on day shift; candidate must be available the full orientation week Flu vaccination (or Mercy-approved exemption) is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted Black scrubs required; hats, non-facility jackets/sweatshirts, and earbuds are not permitted Up to 5 days of RTO allowed but must be made up during the assignment; only 1 holiday RTO request permitted per assignment Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced pay rate Physical demands include prolonged standing and walking, frequent bending and stooping, and lifting/turning patients with assistance; must be able to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs American Traveler Job ID P-682662.
