MongoDB Administrator (REMOTE)

A global AI infrastructure company is looking for a MongoDB Administrator who has actually operated at scale. Not managed a few replica sets. The engineering bar is high and the systems are real.⠀𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗢𝗣𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗨𝗡𝗜𝘁𝗬You will join the database engineering team and own MongoDB platform operations end to end. This means building and maturing the database foundation, working directly with engineering teams on backend data architecture, and partnering with the security team on compliance and hardening. You will not be a ticket-taker. You will be the person engineering teams call when data scale becomes a problem.The role is fully remote. You should expect to work Pacific Standard Time hours, Monday through Friday.⠀𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗬𝗢𝗨'𝗟𝗟 𝗕𝗨𝗜𝗟𝗗• Design, install, and configure multi-node MongoDB sharded clusters and replica sets running on AWS EC2• Add and remove replica and shard nodes as the data platform scales• Identify appropriate shard keys and ensure even data distribution across shards• Convert non-sharded replica sets to sharded clusters as data growth demands it• Implement and manage certificate-based x509 authentication and authorization• Performance tune queries, build proper query plans, and eliminate in-memory sorts• Use MongoDump and MongoRestore for backup operations and disaster recovery• Partner with engineering on Mongoose ODM integrations and schema design• Work with the security team on compliance, penetration testing findings, and mitigations• Build systems capable of handling billions of documents with high availability⠀𝗥𝗘𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗗 𝗤𝗨𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱:• Hands-on experience designing and operating multi-node MongoDB sharded clusters and replica sets• Deep knowledge of replication architecture and change streams• Experience selecting shard keys and managing data distribution across shards• Experience converting replica sets to sharded clusters under production data growth conditions• Working knowledge of x509 certificate-based authentication and authorization• Proficiency with query planning, performance tuning, and Mongoose ODM• Experience with MongoDump and MongoRestore• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship𝗕𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘀 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀:• Experience supporting machine learning infrastructure or data-intensive AI platforms• Background working in high-compliance engineering environments• Familiarity with MongoDB Enterprise, MongoDB Community, and Percona distributions• Experience managing balancer operations and minimizing production impact during balancer runs⠀𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗦𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗗𝗘𝗧𝗔𝗜𝗟𝗦𝗣𝗮𝘆 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗲: $65.00 to $72.00 per hour𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲: Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM PST 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Fully remote.
