Design Manager – Developer Representative

DESIGN MANAGER – DEVELOPER REPRESENTATIVERuida Real Estate is seeking an experienced bilingual Design Manager to represent the developer in managing outside design resources and moving projects through schematic design, design coordination, and government approval processes.This is a developer-side design management position. The primary responsibility is not to personally produce construction drawings or perform all design work. Instead, the role focuses on identifying appropriate professional resources, coordinating consultants, monitoring project progress, resolving issues, and representing the developer in communications with project participants.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES• Identify, screen, and coordinate architects, designers, structural engineers, MEP consultants, and other professional design resources.• Represent the developer in communications with architects, engineers, consultants, and other project participants.• Coordinate architectural, structural, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other design disciplines.• Follow planning approvals, Plan Check, Permit, and related processes, and coordinate consultant responses and resubmittals to government review comments.• Identify design, approval, and project-delivery issues as early as possible, organize the appropriate professional resources, and push issues toward resolution.• Provide clear and timely reports to the developer regarding project progress, major decisions, potential risks, and matters requiring developer action.QUALIFICATIONS• Bachelor’s degree or above.• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in architectural design, design management, or other related fields.• Bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese, with the ability to communicate professionally in both languages. This position regularly interacts with both English-speaking and Chinese-speaking project participants.• Must have U.S. project experience. California real estate development, architectural design, or government approval experience is preferred.• Multifamily development experience is preferred.WHO WE ARE LOOKING FORWe are not looking for someone whose primary role is drafting or producing construction documents.We are looking for a design management professional who can identify the right professional resources, organize and coordinate project participants, oversee consultants, and represent the developer in continuously moving projects forward.COMPENSATIONDirect hire by owner.
