This individual will be responsible for advanced hydraulic and hydrologic design, modeling, and plan development—playing a key role in setting design standards and ensuring technical excellence across projects.As a senior member of the team, you will bring proven experience in leading complex transportation drainage design, collaborating with MnDOT and municipal clients, and mentoring developing engineers. We've had a number of exciting project wins recently—join our team and make an impact today!Work Location: Hybrid, flexible work arrangementsExpected Compensation Range: $50-60 per hour (Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications)Pay Rate Type: Hourly with overtime rate of 1.5x base pay for all hours worked over 40 in a weekResponsibilitiesLead and oversee water resources components of transportation and land development projects through planning, design, and construction phasesDevelop and review hydraulic and hydrologic models, drainage reports, storm sewer design, culvert design, and stormwater management systemsServe as a technical lead for MnDOT and municipal projects, ensuring compliance with agency standards, manuals, and specificationsPrepare and review plans, specifications, and cost estimates for water resources design elementsOversee and perform design using MicroStation, GEOPAK, and OpenRoads Designer, ensuring quality and efficiency in deliverablesMaintain and strengthen client relationships through clear communication, proactive problem-solving, and high-quality project deliveryProvide technical guidance and mentorship to project engineers, EITs, and designersSupport proposal development, scope definition, and project budgeting in collaboration with project managers and business development teamsPromote cross-departmental collaboration and uphold Sambatek's standards of technical excellence and client serviceRequirements:Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering8–12 years of relevant experience in water resources design and analysisMinnesota Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil or Environmental EngineeringDemonstrated experience with MnDOT drainage design procedures and standardsProficiency in hydraulic and hydrologic modeling tools such as HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, XP-SWMM, and othersStrong working knowledge of OpenRoads Designer and MicroStationProven ability to manage multiple priorities, mentor others, and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team environment________________________________________Preferred QualificationsExperience leading drainage design for state transportation agencies (MnDOT or similar)Familiarity with MS4 permitting, stormwater quality design, and low-impact development (LID) practicesExperience with Autodesk Civil 3D and GIS applications for stormwater modeling and mappingStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead client and agency coordination meetingsPhysical Demands and Work EnvironmentWork is primarily performed in an office environmentAbility to occasionally move equipment/objects weighing up to 10 poundsBenefit InformationRegular full-time employees will have access to:Medical, dental, and vision plansHSA and FSA optionsEmployer-paid short-term and long-term disability coverageEmployer-paid life insurance and accidental death & dismemberment insuranceEmployee assistance programVoluntary benefits such as additional life insurance coverage, accident coverage, and critical illness coveragePaid time off and holidaysRetirement 401(k) plan with company matchStarting January 1, 2026, eligible Minnesota employees will be covered under Minnesota Paid Family & Medical Leave (PFML), providing paid, job-protected time away from work for family, medical, or parental needsSambatek, LLC is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity in its workforce.
