PrincipalPurpose of the positionTo develop, implement, and evaluate the total school programStrategic Goal Area I Student Achievement Engage teachers in cooperative planning for curriculum implementation to ensureagreement on core content and required student performances. Monitor and evaluate the implementation of a standards-based curriculum. Use action research to review performance data and student work to refinecurriculum implementation and innovation. Engage teachers in the use of assessment data to design and adjust instruction tomaximize student learning and achievement. Use protocols to engage teachers in review to student work products andperformance used to adjust instruction. Engage teachers in the collaborative analysis of assessment data to plan forcontinuous improvement for each student, subgroup of students, and the school asa whole. Lead teachers to accept collective responsibility for school improvement and thelearning and achievement of all students. Lead job-embedded professional learning that aligns with school improvementgoals and supports student achievement. Evaluate the implementation and impact of professional learning on teacherpractices, continuous school improvement, and student learning. Drive and sustain change in a collegial environment focused on a continuousimprovement model that supports all students meeting high standards.Strategic Goal Area II Student/Stakeholder Engagement & Loyalty Engage participants in collaborative work and provide support systems thatpersonalize work and learning for both students and adults. Apply knowledge about adult learning to develop and implement structures thatsupport adult learning and collaboration. Model continuous learning by developing and maintaining a personal plan forself-improvement. Nurture faculty, staff, and stakeholders as they engage in change processes. Build buy-in from faculty and staff. Develop strategies to engage stakeholders in the change process. Work collaboratively with peers, administration and parents to ensure studentsuccess.Strategic Goal Area III Efficient and Effective Organizational Processes Engage teachers in the use of formative assessment to provide effective andtimely feedback on achievement of curriculum standards. Develop action plans to address the results of an analysis of the school or systemculture. Develop and implement processes and structures that support a pervasivelyacademic climate within a culture with high expectations for all students andadults. Organize a safe, orderly, and engaging learning environment, including facilities,that reflects state, system, and local school rules, policies, and procedures. Integrate curricula to make connections within and across subject areas. Use protocols to engage teachers in collaboration to determine desired results andto design assessment practices which are consistent, balanced, and authentic. Promote the use of a variety of effective and balanced assessment techniques tocontrol for bias. Manage operations within the structure of Georgia public education rules,regulations, and laws and the Georgia Code of Ethics for Educators. Work collaboratively to implement fiscal policies that equitably and adequatelydistribute all available resources to support success of all students. Develop budget that aligns resources with data-based instructional priorities. Assess the school/district reporting system to ensure Georgia and federalrequirements are met, including the filing of academic progress and maintainingclear, written documentation of legal issues. Organize a school/system that reflects leadership decisions based on legal andethical principles to promote educational equity. Formulate school policies in cooperation with the staff. Maintain an accurate inventory and accounting of school property. Establishing a calendar for all school activities and events. Coordinate the use of facilities, instructional materials, and equipment. Coordinate a maintenance program for facilities, equipment, custodial services,grounds and buildings.Strategic Goal Area IV Continuous System and School Improvement Select or develop and use instruments designed to analyze beliefs, processes, andstructures in a school or district that support or impede rigor in teaching andlearning. Develop and implement distributed leadership as part of the process of sharedgovernance. Provide and protect time for job-embedded professional learning, such asmentoring, coaching, feedback, study groups, peer observation, and learningteams. Recruit, select, and hire highly qualified and effective personnel. Promote technology to support administrative processes. Utilize change theory to successfully initiate and sustain a change effort. Retain effective personnel by ensuring positive working conditions.Other Expectations Adhere to the Code of Ethics for Educators in Georgia. Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance/timelines.
