Provide leadership in curriculum, evaluation, and school improvement. Facilitate professional improvement of the instructional staff. Assist with student discipline. Other duties assigned by the principal.Working Conditions:Physical Demands:Office environmentDexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboardConstant interruptionsHearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the telephoneSeeing to read a variety of materialsSitting for extended periods of timeBending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching to file materialsQualifications:Must hold or be eligible for Georgia Level 5 Certificate in Educational Leadership (Tier I)Must have a strong educational background with a minimum of three (3) years teaching experienceMust have good organizational skills, people skills and the ability to help supervise a large staffMust be able to follow directives and assist in the direction of focus of the total programWorking knowledge of the total school operational plan preferredThe Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.Essential Functions:Provide leadership and accountability in working with all school stakeholders including teachers, parents, support personnel, students, and community members to achieve standards and develop and improve the instructional programs of the schoolAssist in the ongoing development of the School Improvement Plan (SIP), and assist in communication of the SIP with the School Advisory CouncilEncourage the acceptance of individual responsibility and the development of initiative on the part of all staffAttend meetings of the school staff, and enlist the cooperation of all staff members in the solution of school-related issuesParticipate in the appointment, re-appointment, promotion, dismissal, and performance evaluation of all school staff as assignedDirect and supervise the labor of all employees in the school, and be responsible for the efficiency of employeesAdminister regulations affecting scholarship and discipline, and counsel with students as neededMaintain desirable relationships with school patrons, and counsel with them concerning student progress and achievementCertify the compliance of individual students with the requirements for promotion or graduation, based on records and reports from teachersAssist with the communication of all official business of the schoolSupervise the proper use and preservation of buildings, grounds, furnishings, equipment, and facilities of the schoolSubmit to the Principal, as may be required, reports covering all details of the work of the schoolEnsure that grade report cards are properly completed and issued at designated timesEnsure that all interschool contests and all other school-sponsored activities are under the direct and complete control of the school administration, and that finances related to such school activities are handled the same as other school funEnsure that all school purchases are made through authorized individual school purchase orders and comply with statutory requirements, as well as Board policiesEnsure that receipts are issued for all funds received regardless of sourceSubmit financial reports to appropriate staff, submit all accounting books for audit as requestedParticipate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to the assignmentReview current developments, literature and technical source information related to job responsibilitiesEnsure adherence to appropriate safety proceduresFollow federal and state laws, as well as Board policiesPerform other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designeeApplicants will be selected for interview.
