Principal Electrical Engineer (Simi Valley)

Looking for a talented and motivated individual to lead development, design, system integration and maintenance of our embedded hardware platforms for Space Orbital Missions, Lunar Missions, Aerospace and Defense projects. This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus! Bonus amount will be based on experience, qualifications, and role requirements. Payout terms and eligibility will be discussed during the offer process.Responsibilities include:Develop and oversee micro-controller operated digital and analog electronics in accordance with established company methodologies and processesLead root cause corrective actions tasks, as assignedLead recommendation and implementation of hardware solutions and improved practicesGuide engineering, packaging and board layout activitiesLead feedback discussions on hardware requirements related to design, time, feasibility, etc.Provide guidance and expertise to other team members to help develop complete systems (hardware and software)Perform product design and development activities with a high degree of independence and creativity. Be responsible from start to finish of new product development including product definition, design, parts selection and qualification.Formulate product designs using scientific analysis and mathematical models.Generate engineering documentation e.g. specification, schematics, layouts, BOM and qualification reportsInterface with customers to determine and define requirementsDocument test plans, test results, lead and design test stand equipmentCoordinate and execute hardware releases, version upgrades, and custom interfaces according to company quality assurance practicesCreate and review design and product information including manuals and brochures for technical accuracyConsult with other engineering staff to evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and operational and performance requirements of overall system designs;Lead teams as specialist in product definition and review activitiesPlanning, managing and execution of multiple activities while maintaining quality requirements, budget costs and schedule milestonesLead and mentor other team membersCandidate should be able to demonstrate expertise in:Advanced application of electrical and software engineering conceptsAdvanced design, analysis and testing of micro-controller operated digital and analog electronicsEmbedded systems software designIGBTs, Mosfets, and other power drivers and current sensorsRelease management and document controlApplication lifecycle managementAnalog and digital circuitsA/D and D/A convertersSchematic Capture toolDigital Signal processing, control systems and digital filtersTCP/IP, C+/C++ knowledge a plusSensorless motor control knowledge a plusProject management methodologies knowledge a plusIn addition, the ideal candidate will have:Excellent analytical and problem-solving skillsWorst Case Circuit Analysis capabilityA hands-on, get it done attitudeStrong communication and leadership abilityAbility to work collaboratively with other engineering disciplinesCreativity and self-motivation to solve unique and complex technical problemsDesire to lead teams and be promoted to higher levels of responsibilityKnowledge of Microsoft products including Windows 7, Word, Excel, etc.Excellent oral and written English skillsU.S citizen or U.S. person15+ years of experience in electronics designA degree in Electrical EngineeringESI is a technology leader in cutting-edge servo motor controller technology for extreme environments.
